Functional Description

Brief description of functions
The DULCOTEST
®
sensor for free chlorine
CLB1 is a membrane-covered, amperometric
two-electrode sensor. The DULCOTEST
sensor for free chlorine CLB1 can be used to
determine the concentration of free chlorine in
tenside-free water.
Typical applications:
Typical applications include: the treatment
n
of swimming pool water, disinfection of
potable water or the treatment of water of
a comparable quality. It can also be used
for the treatment of sea water.
Continuous operation at a media tempera‐
n
ture of 5 °C to 45 °C.

Applications

Typical applications include: the treatment of
swimming pool water, disinfection of potable
water or the treatment of water of a comparable
quality. Media temperatures of 5 °C to 45 °C
(temperature-compensated). No sudden
changes in temperature! Maximum speed of
temperature change < 0.3 °C/min.

Measured Variable

Free chlorine (HOCI, OCI
chlorine is designated as the sum of chlorine
gas (Cl
), hypochlorous acid (HOCI) and hypo‐
2
chlorite (OCI
). In the operating range of the
-
CLB sensor (pH 5.5...8), disinfection is almost
exclusively provided by the hypochlorous acid.
The chlorine sensor only detects the hypochlo‐
rous acid (HOCI) as the proportion of the freely
effective chlorine. The hypochlorite (OCI),
which is up to 1/100 weaker in terms of its dis‐
infecting effect,
