2. Safety information
As with any electrical device, safety precautions should be taken. Before connecting to the mains check that
the supply voltage is within the range stated on the rating label and that the device is earthed. Place the unit
on a level, dry surface in a safe location. The unit MUST NOT touch anything in the surrounding area. Always
follow the relevant safety precautions for all chemicals / dangerous materials and Hot Surface!
2.1 Environmental conditions
Ensure the instrument is installed and operated strictly in the following conditions:
1.
Indoor use only.
2. 95 % RH.
3. 75 kPa – 106 kPa.
4. Altitude must not exceed 2000 meters.
5. Ambient to 40 °C operating temperature.
6. Pollution degree: 2.
7. Mains supply voltage fluctuations up to ±10 % of the normal voltage.
2.2 Avoiding electrical shock
The Mini Dry Bath Incubator has been designed for use with shielded wires to minimise any potential shock
hazard to the user. DO NOT use the unit with unshielded wires.
1. In the event of accidental spills into the instrument, the unit must be allowed to dry for AT LEAST
2 HOURS and restored to NORMAL CONDITION before reuse.
2. NEVER connect or disconnect the wire lead (9) when the power switch (8) is on.
3. WAIT at least 5 seconds after stopping a run before handling output leads or connected apparatus.
4. ALWAYS make sure that your hands, the work area and the unit are clean and dry before touching
or operating the unit.
5. ONLY connect the power cord to a properly grounded AC outlet.
2.3 Avoiding damage to the unit
1. Do not attempt to operate the unit if it is damaged in any way.
2. Protect the unit from damage, corrosive agents and extreme temperatures (direct sunlight etc).
3. For proper ventilation, the unit should be situated and operated with at least 10 cm of clear space
behind and 5 cm of clear space on either side.
4. Do not operate the unit outside of the environmental conditions listed above.
5. Before using any cleaning or decontamination method (except those recommended in this manual),
you should check with STARLAB or your STARLAB distributor that the proposed method will not
damage the equipment.
