How to Use the Ultravision™ Patient Return Adaptor – Before surgery
Consult the User Manual for detailed instructions on how to use the Ultravision System.
1.
Connect the patient return electrode to the patient using standard surgical practice:
a Either solid or split variants may be used.
2.
Connect the patient return electrode to the Ultravision Patient Return Adaptor (Figure 1):
a. Select the Solid Ultravision Patient Return Adaptor for use with a solid return electrode.
b. Select the Split Ultravision Patient Return Adaptor for use with a split electrode.
3.
Connect the Patient Return Adaptor to the electrosurgical generator (Figure 2).
4.
Switch on the electrosurgical generator and ensure that the patient return path is
recognised by the electrosurgical generator:
a. If the patient return path is not recognised, connect the patient return electrode directly
to the electrosurgical generator.
b. If the patient return electrode is recognised, replace the Patient Return Adaptor.
c. If the patient return electrode is not recognised, replace the patient return electrode.
d. If the problem persists the electrosurgical generator is at fault and the manufacturer
should be contacted.
5.
Connect the orange end of the patient return adaptor to the Ultravision Generator
(Figure 3), ensuring that the orientation is correct.

6.
Turn off the Ultravision Generator.
7.
Disconnect the Patient Return Adaptor from the Ultravision Generator.
8.
Disconnect the patient return electrode from the Patient Return Adaptor.
9.
Disconnect the Patient Return Adaptor from the electrosurgical generator.
Cleaning
10. Use only detergents that are already routinely used in your hospital to clean non-sterile
electrosurgical generators and cables to clean the Ultravision generator, battery recharging
station and Patient Return Adaptors.
11. The Patient Return Adaptor should be allowed to air dry thoroughly before being reused.
Compatibility with patient return electrodes
Ultravision Patient Return Adaptors have been designed for use with patient return electrodes
with 'international style' connectors. Performance has been verified with the following patient
return electrodes:
