Important
This booklet is designed to assist in using this product. It is not a reference to surgical
techniques.
Device description
The Ultravision
Patient Return Adaptor is intended for use with the Ultravision System. The
TM
Ultravision Generator requires a patient return electrode in order to function. The Patient Return
Adaptor allows the Ultravision Generator to share the same patient return electrode as a
monopolar electrosurgical instrument. There are two versions of the Patient Return Adaptor:
1.
Patient Return Adaptor - Split (red/ orange) – for use with a split plate (REM) patient return
electrode.
2.
Patient Return Adaptor - Solid (blue/ orange) – for use with a solid plate (non-REM) patient
return electrode.
The Ultravision Patient Return Adaptor is only necessary when using the Ultravision System
with a monopolar instrument. When using a bipolar or ultrasonic instrument, the patient
return electrode may be connected directly to the return socket in the fascia of the Ultravision
Generator. Where multiple instrument types may be required during the procedure, if one of
these is a monopolar instrument then the Patient Return Adaptor should be used.
The Patient Return Adaptor is supplied non-sterile and does not require sterilisation.
The Patient Return Adaptor should be replaced after 500 mating cycles.
Indications
The Ultravision System is indicated for the clearance of smoke and other particulate matter that
is created during laparoscopic surgery by monopolar, bipolar and ultrasonic surgical instruments.
Contraindications
The Ultravision system is an electrical energy-based system that must not be used on patients
fitted with a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
Warnings and Cautions
• The Ultravision System should only be used by appropriately trained medical personnel.
• Ensure that the selected patient return adaptor (either Solid or Split) matches the patient
return electrode attached to the patient. Incorrect use may bypass any return pad sensing
functionality of the electrosurgical generator.
• Ensure that Ultravision Patient Return Adaptor is used in the correct orientation.
• Always disconnect the patient return adaptor from the electrosurgical generator and Ultravision
Generator before cleaning.
• Do not apply alcohol, caustic, corrosive, or abrasive cleaning or disinfectant compounds,
solvents, or other materials that could cause damage. See Cleaning section below.
• Do not attempt to sterilise the Patient Return Adaptor.
• Keep the Patient Return Adaptor away from liquids.
