8.4 The Sorting Inline station
The station has been expanded for the MPS System 403-1 to include the height-adjustable RFID module.
The RFID tag in the workpiece is read by the RFID read/write head and, depending on the results, the
workpiece is ejected. As soon as a slide is full, this is signaled by the indicator light Q1. After the slides have
been emptied, the station must be reset.
It is also possible to use the Robotino system building block to retrieve the workpiece at the end of the
conveyor. The provided station markers are required for docking.
The function of the Sorting Inline station is to:
Sort workpieces according to their characteristics
Sort workpieces according to RFID tag content
Operation with MES
The "Check color" operation is performed with the "detection" module.
In the "Send out" operation, the slide can be selected as the destination for ejection. If the "Send out"
operation is not used in the routing card, the workpiece is transported to the end of the conveyor.
Operation without MES
The station sorts workpieces onto the slides by color.

403-1 System, Distributing Pro-Joining-Sorting Inline – Operating instructions
Sorting is a sub-concept of the "change quantity" handling
function. The conveyor is equipped with branches for sorting the
workpieces. Various deflectors are set, depending on the
workpiece.
The workpieces must travel individually so as not to interfere
with the switching operations of the deflectors.
Workpieces are sorted in the Sorting Inline station according to
the content of the RFID tag. If negative results are obtained
during quality inspection, the workpieces are sorted out to a
scrap slide/chute.
