Setting up, installation and putting into operation
Transport the machine carefully in a horizontal position. Avoid jerking it!
For sizes and weight see paragraph 10 Technical Data.
After unpacking, check the device and accessories to make sure everything is present and dispose of the packaging
in an environmentally-friendly manner.
CAUTION
Safety regulations for setting up the device.
It is absolutely essential that you observe the following instructions:
– Before putting into operation check to make sure that the figures on the rating plate agree with the local
power supply figures.
– Check the mains lead and plug for damage before use. If there is damage, the device must not be plugged
into the mains.
– Do not short the electrical contacts on the hand piece with metal objects or liquids.
– Set up the device at a shockproof place which is protected against splashes of water and other liquids.
– Do not set up the device above or near sources of heat. When setting up, leave sufficient space round the

– Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or ultraviolet radiation!

– Do not set up the device in potentially explosive atmospheres where highly flammable air prevails or can
arise (anaesthetic mixtures, oxygen, etc.).

Appliance
Place the glare shield on the lens barrel ( Speed Focus ).
Avoid any direct contact between the HiLite pre 2 and the material to be prepolymerised.
Prepolymerised composite residues on the light exit surface impair light emission and have a negative effect
on subsequent cycles.
NOTE
For the curing times of prepolymerisation please refer to the separate instructions for use for the particular
material. For final polymerisation an additional device is required, e.g. HiLite
CAUTION
Never point the light towards the eyes! Direct or indirect exposure of light into the eyes must always
be prevented by wearing protective goggles that filter out blue and ultraviolet light.
7.1
Battery
The HiLite pre 2 is supplied with power from a rechargeable lithium ion battery.
CAUTION
When inserting the battery, make sure the (+) pole goes first. If inserted incorrectly, the HiLite pre 2 will not
work. Additionally the battery will not charge and if charging is attempted the charge indicator will blinking red.
Safety regulations for the battery:
– Keep the battery out of children's reach.
– Only use genuine
– To charge the battery only use the magnetic charging clip.
Do not charge the battery with universal battery chargers. Risk of explosion and fire!
– Dispose of the battery in a suitable manner in accordance with the laws applicable. Under no circumstan-
ces may it be disposed of along with domestic waste.
The owner is liable for any damage caused by improper disposal of the battery.
– Do not use the battery for purposes other than those specified.
WARNING – RISK OF EXPLOSION
– Do not open, pierce or squash the battery; it contains toxic substances.
– Do not burn the battery or expose it to high temperatures – risk of explosion!
– Do not short the ends of the battery – risk of burning and fire!
– The battery of the HiLite pre 2 is not charged when it is delivered.
