21. stopfor™ fall arresters must be used on a vertical
anchorage system or with a maximum angle of
30° or a maximum displacement of 3 m with
respect to the vertical (see fig. 6.2). They can be
used in a horizontal position to work on a flat roof,
deviating no more than 1.50 m from the
perpendicular to the edge (see fig. 6.1).

2. Definitions and pictograms
2.1. Definitions of the terms
"Supervisor": Person or department responsible for
the management and safety of use of the product
described in the manual.
"Technician": Qualified person in charge of the
maintenance operations described and authorised by
the user manual, who is competent and familiar with
the product.
"Operator": Operational person involved in the use
of the product as it is intended to be used.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls
from height.
"Connector":
Connection
components of a fall-arrest system. This is EN 362
compliant.
"Fall arrest harness": Body harness designed to
arrest falls. It consists of straps and buckles. It
features fall-arrest attachment points marked with an
A if they can be used alone, or marked with A/2 if
they are to be used in combination with another A/2
point. This is EN 361 compliant.
"Fall-arrester including a flexible anchor line":
Subsystem consisting of a flexible anchor line (rope),
a guided-type fall arrester with an automatic blocking
system that is secured to the flexible anchor line, and
a connector or a line terminated by a connector.
"Maximum working load": Maximum weight of the
operator, equipped with the correct PPE, workwear,
tools and the parts they need to perform the task at
hand.

3. Operation
Checks before use:
• No deformation of the flanges.
• Visual check of the condition of the belay and
lanyard. The rope, strap, sewing threads must not
show any signs of abrasion, fraying, burns or
cuts.
• Check the locking effectiveness of the stopfor™,
mounted on its belay bracket, by pulling the
device vigorously in the opposite direction to the
arrow on its housing.
• Take the stopfor™ by its connector. Lift up to
