1. Brief description of the system
The PMF 2015-SIL is an all-round flashlight for the signalling of dangerous situations in safety relevant appli-
cations, e.g. as an intrinsic part of an E/E/PE system (according to EN61508). Optical warning signals with
high light intensity and short duration, with a maximum flash energy of 7 Joules can be generated.
A favourable bundling of the light on a horizontal level is achieved by a Fresnel lens-shaped hood and a
special XENON flash tube. This allows for a very good recognisibility over large distances with a small power
input.
This allows for very good detection over great distances with only low power consumption. A distinct atten-
tion effect for people is reached by the high difference of luminance to the surrounding area. The flashing
light is concepted for use in buildings as well outdoors. Driving rain and condensation do not damage it.
The generation of the optical warning signal (see Fig. 1) is monitored internally by an optical sensor and
corresponding evaluation circuit. If an optical warning signal is generated, a relay activates permanently with
forcibly guided contacts. A fault can be interpreted with a superior control.
