4.13. Requirements for the installation and putting into service
a) The flashing light corresponds to state-of-the-art technology and was constructed taking into account
the specific regulations and guidelines.
b) The operating manual and the safety manual are aimed at educated and authorised electrical tech-
nical personnel. Their contents must be made available to the technical personnel and implemented.
c) The electrical connection can only be carried out by persons authorised for this. Before connecting it
is to be ensured that the warning light is not live.
d) The safety instructions of this operating manual, the local installation standards as well as the valid
safety regulations and accident prevention guidelines are to be observed.
e) The optical warning light must be installed in such a way that it can be easily recognised by the peo-
ple it is to warn.
f)
Despite the very high head light strength of the flashing light, it should be ensured that the environ-
ment of the warning light creates as high a contrast (difference of luminance) as possible. This leads
to better perceptibility.
g) Note: the flashing light should not be exposed to direct sunlight with the consequence of a fault mes-
sage – there is a possibility that the monitoring circuit cannot differentiate the flashes from the ambi-
ent lighting to a high enough extent.
h) Do not install two flashing lights directly next to one another as mutual influencing during simultane-
ous operation cannot be ruled out. The minimum distance must be determined, if necessary.
i)
For signal colours the colour red should be used for danger yellow-orange for warnings, in accord-
ance with EN842.
j)
The connection assignment is illustrated in section 4.14.
k) The cable screw joints with which the device is equipped are intended for round cable cross-sections
and an outer diameter of 6,5 mm to 13,5 mm. This guarantees the seal effect of the cable screw
joint. If cables with other diameters or shapes are to be used, then other suitable cable screw joints
must be used. The IP protection category IP55 cannot be impaired.
l)
During installation make sure that the cable(s) is/are secured against pulling and twisting. Please
note: the devices are not intended for mobile use.
m) The correct function of the flashing light is to be checked when newly commissioned, recommis-
sioned and after every repair. The safety function in particular is to be validated. The function test as
described in section 4.7 is also to be released.
n) Before repair, the supply voltage on the type plate is to be checked. The wrong operational voltage
can lead to damages or to the destruction of the equipment.
o) The device can only be used in a technically correct and operationally safe condition.
p) The operator is responsible for the trouble-free operation of the device.
