Startup
On startup, vent the system as described in chapter
NOTE
pump must be operated with primary pressure please refer to chapter 11.3. "Technical
specifications "Overview tables".
If the metering line can be blocked off, an overflow valve (safety valve) which opens at the
maximum allowed pressure should be installed on the pressure side for safeguarding the
CAUTION
metering line and pump. This can stop the metering line bursting if wrongly operated.
The pressure can rise to 3 times the nominal pressure.
After 24 hours of operation, the metering head screws should be diagonally tightened to
NOTE
3 - 4 Nm.

Venting the metering pump
Particular caution is required when handling chemical metering media!
Metering media may escape which may cause skin irritation, depending on their properties.
WARNING
Therefore, before venting, always observe the product datasheet of the metering medium to
prevent any type of injury!
To ensure an optimal suction performance, the stroke length should be set to 100%.
NOTE
In the event that pump has no suction or insufficient suction, the correct connection must be
checked.
Set metering setting to 100%.
Open vent screw approx. 1 turn and leave open until the metering medium enters the vent
line without bubbles. The close vent screw and ensure that the metering line is not shut-off at
any point.
WARNING
If the pump has drawn in air, then it must be revented.
Improved suction can be achieved if the pressure valve is subsequently unscrewed and the
pump head filled with a suitable liquid.
NOTE
If no metering medium enters the metering pipe, repeat the aerating.
CAUTION
The metering pump head may contain residual water from works testing.

„Setup",Fig. 5.1, pos. 1)
The metering capacity is adjustable by means of mechanical stroke
length setting between 100% and 30% of the pump's rated capacity
(reproducible accuracy can no longer be guaranteed below 30%).
The adjustment is made via the stroke adjusting button (see section
"Setup", Fig. 5.1, Pos. 2) and can only be performed while the metering
pump is in operation.
The pump capacity has to be measured in order to determine the metering capacity
accurately (see section
7.5
"Metering rate calculation").
