■ Conversion to Racing
For racing, lower the halyard swivel below the feeder
and remove the line guard assembly and drum from the
headstay. This allows use of both grooves for sail
changes and to tack genoas on the deck for
maximum luff length.
■ Spool Removal
1) Remove the sail and unwind the line from the
spool. The line can remain attached to the drum.
2) Use the 5 mm allen wrench provided to remove
the two screws on the bottom of the guard
assembly and remove the two halves. Be careful,
screws are not captive!
3) Use a 4 mm allen wrench to loosen the four
screws in the plastic spool and remove.
■ Halyard Swivel Removal
For serious racing you may want to remove the halyard
swivel.
1) Remove the guard and spool assembly.
2) Rig a secure, temporary headstay.
3) Loosen the backstay, mainsheet and vang so
that the headstay goes slack.
4) Remove the torque tube cap and key. Be careful not
to lose the key.
5) Unsnap the stainless tangs on the side of the unit
and slide the hub assembly up the foils and lift to
expose the turnbuckle.
6) Unythread the main body of the turnbuckle to
expose the threaded stud.
7) Slide the hub assembly and torque tube cap off and
remove the halyard swivel.
8) Replace the hub assembly and assemble the
turnbuckle to the correct length.
