Assemble the elevator horns and glue them in the elevators, as described for the
ailerons and landing flaps. Mark the length of the pushrods, bend them at right-
angles and shorten them accordingly. Connect them to the servo output levers and fit
the swing-in plastic retainer clips.
The fuselage
Cut or melt away the covering film over the length and breadth of the vertical fin
recess at the tail end of the fuselage.
A slot has to be cut at the bottom of the tail post to accept the bottom rudder hinge.
Push the fin into its recess, engaging the bottom hinge fully in the slot you have just
cut, and position it in such a way that it makes solid contact at the front and bottom.
Use a felt-tip pen to mark the outline of the fuselage on the fin, and mark the position
of the horn on the rudder at the same time.
Remove the rudder again, and lay a steel ruler along the marked line on one side of
the rudder. Run the tip of a hot soldering iron along the ruler, just inside the marked
line, so that you can peel the film away from the fin over the area which will be inside
the fuselage.
Glue the fin in the fuselage; check that it is at right-angles before leaving the
adhesive to set hard.
Use a damp cloth to wipe away excess glue where it is forced out of the joints.
Melt away the covering film over the holes for the main undercarriage leg retaining
screws, and fix the legs in place using the screws supplied. Apply a drop of UHU
thread-lock fluid to the screws, and tighten them fully to ensure that they will not work
loose.
The wheel spats can now be prepared prior to installation, as shown in the photos.
Drill a 4 mm Ø hole through both sides of the spats at the position stated in the photo,
then file or drill out the inboard holes to 8 mm Ø. Take care to produce one left and
one right wheel spat (i.e. a handed pair).
Mount the wheel spats and wheels on the undercarriage legs using the collets,
washers and M8 nuts provided.
Mark the correct length of the wheel axles as shown in the photo. Remove the axles
and cut them to length, then re-assemble the wheels, axles etc. permanently.
Apply a drop of UHU thread-lock fluid to the screws to prevent them working loose.
The tailwheel unit can now be installed.
The tailwheel unit should be screwed to the fuselage as shown in the photos.
Mark the position of the retaining screws on the fuselage and drill 2 mm Ø pilot-holes
