should be attached to the rear mounting plate, which is screwed to the rear cabin
former as shown in the photo.
Installing the aero-tow mechanism
The model is designed to be fitted with the Graupner aero-tow mechanism, Order No.
7891, which should be installed at a point about 140 mm aft of the wing root leading
edge, and 20 mm to one side of the root rib. Drill an 8 mm Ø hole through one wing
panel at this point.
Fit the mechanism through the holes in the wing and secure it with the washer and
retaining nut supplied in the set. Install the aero-tow release servo in a Servo-Lock
(moulded plastic servo mount); the mount can then be glued to the underside of the
wing as shown. The pushrod consists of a length of threaded rod, Order No. 3529.80
and a clevis, Order No. 3527. Establish the correct location of the release servo as
shown in the photo, and remove the covering film at the mounting point before gluing
the servo mount to the wing.
Assembling the KADETT 2400
Fit the wing panels together on the aluminium joiner tube. To connect the aileron
servos, the flap servos and the aero-tow release servo to the receiver we recommend
the use of 180 mm extension leads, connected permanently to the appropriate
receiver output sockets.
Plug the wing-mounted servos into the extension leads connected to the receiver,
then place the wing on the wing saddle and insert the two leading edge dowels in the
holes in the rear face of the front cabin former. Fit the two plastic screws at the rear
of the wing to fix it to the fuselage. Don't overtighten the screws; they should be just
tight enough to prevent the wing shifting on the fuselage.
Slip the aluminium tailplane joiner tube through the holes in the fuselage. Slide the
tailplane panels onto the tube to a depth of about 40 mm, then plug the elevator
servo leads into the extension leads already connected to the receiver. Push the
tailplane panels up against the fuselage, and secure them with four M3 screws (two
each side). Tighten the screws just to the point where they hold the tailplane reliably
against the fuselage.
Balancing the KADETT 2400
Assemble the model completely, and support it under both wing roots at a point
about 130 mm aft of the leading edge. If the CG position is correct the model will
hang level, with the nose inclined slightly down. If necessary, adjust the position of
the flight batteries to obtain the correct balance. All the control surfaces must be
exactly at centre when the transmitter trims and sticks are in the neutral position;
check this before the first flight.
