This applies in particular to hinge slots and film overlaps. We recommend that you
apply clear adhesive tape over the faces into which the control surface hinges are to
be fitted, because moisture tends to creep under the film at such areas, causing it to
lift.

Assembling the EXTRA 300 S
Don't start building the model until you have examined the components and studied
the individual stages of construction, so that you have a clear understanding how it
goes together. If you are not satisfied with any component, take it back to your
supplier (model shop) before carrying out any work on it.
Screw the two undercarriage units to the fuselage as shown in the photo, noting that
the legs should face forward. Apply UHU schraubensicher (thread-lock fluid) to the
screws to prevent them working loose.
Drill 4 mm Ø holes in both wheel spats at the marked points. The centre of the wheel
axles should be about 10 mm above the bottom edge of the spats, and central to the
opening in the spat mouldings.
The wheel spats can now be slipped onto the wheel axles together with the wheels
and collets as shown in the photos; attach the wheel assemblies to the undercarriage
units, and secure the nuts and grubscrews with a drop of UHU schraubensicher.
The next step is to remove the covering film over the joint areas for the fin and
tailplane, and slide the tailplane and fin into the slots in the fuselage. Set the tailplane
central relative to the fuselage centreline, and at right angles when viewed from
above. Mark the outside contour of the fuselage on the tailplane and fin.
Remove the tail panels, lay the edge of a steel ruler just inside the marked lines, and
run the tip of a hot soldering iron along the edge in order to melt the covering film.
Carefully peel off the film inside the marked lines.
