NOTE
The Turbo-DRY installed in its final position must
be positioned so that cold air can flow through the
units.
Do not install or use the Turbo-DRY in an environ-
ment exposed to atmospheric agents (rain, snow,
ice), dust, aggressive gases, or in explosive envi-
ronments or those with a high fire risk.
The Turbo-DRY must be installed in a stable posi-
tion connecting the inlet flange of the turbopump to
a fixed counter-flange capable of withstanding a
torque of 200 Nm around its axis.
Detailed information about the fixing requirements
of the turbopump to the vacuum chambre are con-
tained into the relevant technical manual.
USE

WARNING!
Never operate the Turbo pump if the pump inlet
port is not connected to the system or blanked off.
! ! ! !
Never use the Turbo-DRY in an heavy load condi-
tion where the pump air cooling is insufficient.
The maximum allowed inlet flange temperature is
120 cC.
The following paragraphs describe the user avail-
able operating procedures.
Turbo-DRY Switching On and Off
To switch on or off the Turbo-DRY it is necessary
to press the ìPowerî pushbutton located on the
Turbo-DRY front panel.
When the Turbo-DRY is powered, the white lamp
integral with the pushbutton is on.
Low Speed Operation
To operate the Turbo pump at a low speed rota-
tion, it is necessary to press the ìLow Speedî
pushbutton located on the Turbo-DRY front panel.
When the ìlow Speedî condition is selected the
green lamp integral with the pushbutton is on.
CAUTION
Normal Operation
During the Turbo-DRY normal operating condition
no operation is necessary. The green LED on the
front panel lights when the pump reaches the
maximum allowed speed (whether in high or in low
speed).
Fault Condition
When a fault condition is detected, the yellow LED
on the front panel lights.
In this case the operator must immediately switch
off the power pushbutton.
Emergency Operation
To immediately stop the turbopump when an
emergency condition has occurred and the ìPowerî
pushbutton is inoperative, it is necessary to dis-
connect the power cord from the Turbo-DRY.
MAINTENANCE
The Turbo-DRY does not require any mainte-
nance. Any work performed on the Turbo-DRY
must be carried out by authorized personnel.
When an unit mounted on the Turbo-DRY is faulty,
contact your local Varian office.
