PC CONNECTION
Almost all the user code management functions can be carried out through the PC thus taking advantage of a powerful database allowing
you to create archives and user lists quickly and easily. This function is available when you use the PGM486 management program and
a standard RS232 connection. You must set the palm in the terminal mode which is required when managing the interface with the PC
and memory modules. In this mode the palm has no active commands as it only carries out instructions given by the PC (for a list of the
available functions in this mode consult the specific instructions for the software program.
Press and hold down the "ESC" button for a few seconds until the window disappears and you are moved back to the advanced func-
tions menu.
NOTE: If the communication isn't interrupted immediately hold down the "ESC" button for a few seconds as time is required to shut
down the serial line connection between the PC and the palm.
If you use the virtual code Hardware key the connection should be made in the following manner
1)
Switch off the Palm
2)
Connect the hardware key to the Palm
3)
Connect the serial cable directly to the hardware key
4)
Connect the cable to the PC
5)
Switch on the Palm and activate the PC connection
MODIFYING THE PIN (Personal Identification Number)
The palm has an identification number which the user can personalise for all the installations that he will be managing. This number is
between 0 and 4294967295 and will be written into all memory modules read or written by the palm. In this way you can detect any
attempts to tamper with the installation.
This number can only be seen during the modification stage thus reducing the possibility of it being copied. The Palm uses the PIN code
to enable access to the memory module. If the PIN doesn't correspond access to the memory module in the socket is denied and menu
nr. 42. will be displayed.
The value is checked during insertion and will not be accepted if it is out of limits. To cancel the last inserted number press the "-" button
(located near the "B") which will remove the last digit from the right.
For ulterior details regarding the PIN refer to the specific paragraph
RECEIVER SECURITY
This function allows the user to lock the S486 receiver with display programming buttons: in other words adding or cancelling codes, or
modifying the function mode for the channel strips is only possible using the palm. Insert the memory module in the relative socket and
press "A" to enable the buttons or "B" to lock them. Each time you press a button the memory will be updated.
STRIP MODES
The S486 receiver with display has introduced the possibility to emulate the different types of channel modules using only an impulsive
relay. The data for this particular function can be programmed either directly into the receiver or by means of the palm using menu nr. 31.
Each button (A,B,C,D) carries out a specific function:
Pressing button "A" scrolls through the various functions from A to D in a loop (the letters indicate the channels). The actual settings are
shown for each single function and are read from the inserted memory.
The available functions scroll in the same way as the channels and they are as follows:
IMPULSIVE: The strip is activated when a button is pressed or a command received and deactivated when the button is released or the
commend terminates 250 milliseconds. This is the standard function mode for channel strips
TIMER CONTROLLED: When a button is pressed or a command is transmitted the strip is activated and remains active for a period defined
by the user. Each time a command is received the timer is reset.
