"NONE" SETTING:
The Palm can be used by anyone and the memory is not protected in any form. This allows anyone to modify the data contained in the
memory modules. Only memory modules that are not protected by PIN codes, or those that have the same PIN code as the Palm, can
be read in this mode.
"PGM" SETTING
The PIN code functions as an "access code" to deny access to unauthorised personnel as the PIN code must be inserted each time the
device is switched on. Unauthorised access attempts will be indicated on the display.
The PIN code will be asked for as soon as the PGM is switched on PIN. Type in the number (it will be shown as a
INSERT PIN
series of asterisks) and press "ENT" to confirm (if you press "ENT" without inserting a number the default value 0 will
be inserted). If the code is correct the main menu will appear (ref. menu number 1), otherwise one of the following
:----------?
error messages will appear.
WRONG PIN!
If a wrong number has been typed in this message will appear for 6 seconds. After 6 seconds you will be asked to
re-insert the PIN number. There is no limit to the number of attempts .
WAIT...
Indicates that there has been an attempt at unauthorised access. This message remains on the display for 6 seconds.
!ACCESS!
This message will reappear until the correct PIN code is inserted.
!VIOLATION!
>>WAIT..
NOTE: even if the PGM486 security mode is active it will always be possible to modify the language for messages. This will not change
the security level for the Palm.
"CODE MEMORY" SETTING:
This command tells the palm to mark all memory modules (with the PIN code) which are to be manipulated. In this mode the data can only
be modified using the original Palm or one which has the same PIN number (e.g. more than one installer having the same installations in
common). If you do not know the memory module PIN code the only possible operation is a complete memory wipe. With this function
active you will be shown which memory modules are marked with the PIN code as follows:
CODE MEMORY
Indicates that the memory module is not protected by a PIN code and that the code for the PGM has been inserted
INSERIT PIN!
automatically. Access will be denied for memory modules that have a PIN code different to the PGM.
If you don't want the memory module to be identified you will have to remove the PIN using the "REMOVE PIN"
CODE MEMORY
function in the "MEMORY" menu before removing the module from the socket. This message indicates that the
REMOVE PIN!
memory module is not protected by a PIN code and can therefore be freely modified.
ATTENTION! If you carry out any other operation on the memory module the Palm will re-insert the Pin code.
"PGM+MEMORY" SETTING:
Activates PGM security protection and memory module PIN code protection.
Another PIN code function available for the S486 receiver with display (version 2.0 and successive) blocks the receiver if the PIN code
is found to be corrupt. The receiver identifies the PIN code the first time the memory module is inserted and writes "Pin" on the display
(flashing for 10 seconds). A constant PIN code integrity check is now carried out on the memory module: if it is corrupt the receiver will be
blocked and the flashing error code "Er3" will appear on the display. You will have to use the Palm to reset the receiver assuming that the
fundamental operating data has not been compromised.
Insert the receiver memory module into the Palm socket and check the message that appears on the display (see below). Now carry out
the INFORMATION function from the MEMORY menu.
• INDICATION: "INSERT THE MEMORY MODULE TO ENABLE THE FUNCTION"
The memory module is damaged and the Palm is unable to read the PIN code that identifies it. It is not possible to reset and you will
have to try and recover the data from the database on the PC (if you have created one) or by memorising the transmitters individually.
In this case the memory module will have to be replaced with a new component.
• INDICATION: "CODE MEMORY....INSERT PIN!"
The original PIN was corrupt and the Palm has recovered the original data. The memory module has been recovered but you will have
to verify the integrity of the data contained in it.
• THE MEMORY MODULE INFORMATION IS SHOWN STRAIGHT AWAY
This indicates that the PIN security data managed by the receiver is corrupt. The Palm cannot modify this data therefore it must be
completely cancelled using the REMOVE PIN function from the MEMORY menu (this is only possible if the Palm has been enabled with
the same PIN code). Using the INFORMATION function check that the PIN has been accepted. Check the memory module data with
the PC database before inserting it back into the receiver: If the PIN has been recognised it will appear on the display ("Pin" flashing).
