VISUAL
1. Label
> Failed if any of the front and / or back labels are absent or not legible
2. Housing
> Failed if any crack rupture or significant deformation of the housing is
present
• Pay also particular attention to the area around the installation bracket and all bolts and
nuts.
> Failed if intense corrosion or pitting is evident
3. Karabiner/Fall Indicator
• Check the load indicator.
> Failed if the device has experienced an impact force such as that incur-
red in arresting a fall (see figure: Fall Indicator)
• Check the connector:
> Failed if the gate can open under any circumstances
4. Screws
> Failed if one of the two security capsule and / or one of the screws are
missing
5. Cable
• The inspection must be performed over the entire length of cable starting from the
thimble
> Failed if a groove of more than 2.5mm is evident
• Check the pressed metal sleeve and the thimble
> Failed if there is any evidence of cracks, distortion, excessive corrosion,
wear, loosening or biting into cable.
> Failed if there is an increase or decrease in cable diameter of 1.3 mm in
any area
FUNCTIONAL
1. Braking mechanism
• Check that the locking function is operating by tugging on the cable which should lock
instantly. Pull it a second time to confirm.
> Failed if the brake does not lock.
2. Extraction/Retraction of the cable
• Check cable extraction by pulling out the entire cable in a hand-over-hand manner.
> Failed if the cable jams
• Check cable retraction over the full length by first extending the cable:
> Failed if the cable does not retract completely or if the spring appears
weak
3. Karabiner
• Clean the karabiner with a brush.
> Failed if deep corrosion stay apparent once cleaned with metallic brush
• Check all parts of the snap hook.
> Failed if there are signs of alterations, distortions, cracks, deep nicks,
