• To reduce the pendulum effect at the end of the fall, the working area or side
movements to either side of the central axis passing through the floor-level
anchor point must be limited to a maximum of 1.50 m. Beyond this limit, a class
D anchor point, compliant with standard EN795, must be used.
Other precautions:
• Distortion of the anchor device must be taken into consideration when
determining the clearance required below the user's feet. For this purpose, the
recommendations in the anchor device instruction manual must be taken into
consideration (e.g., arrow for portable lifeline type C anchor).
• In case of a fall onto an edge, specific rescue measures must be defined and
users trained in these measures.
c) CONDITIONS AND LIMITS OF USE:
• User weight ≤ 136 kg, tools included (See Fig. 14).
• Temperature of use: between -45°C and +80°C (See Fig. 10).
• Will not prevent sinking (powdery or tacky products) (See Fig. 8).
Precautions when in use:
• Check that the height of the anchor point relative to the work area is compatible
with the fall protection capacity and that there is sufficient clearance,
compatible with the device specification in the event of a fall. (see paragraph
7-5).
• During use, check that the cable does not become entwined around an arm or a
leg.
• Never connect more than one person to the lifeline.
• Never lock the cable retractor.
• The cable must always be taut. In the event of any slackness, have the device
inspected by the manufacturer.
• Move around at normal walking speed. Speeding up, jumping or other sudden
movements will trigger the device's locking system.
7.5 CLEARANCE
Take into consideration the risks of injury and check before using a retractor that
there is the minimum clearance below the user's feet to avoid any collision with
the structure or the ground in a fall. Refer to your type of use to determine the
applicable value (H), including a safety distance of 1 meter.
The value of H is calculated on the basis of a fall occurring from an upright
position. Allow an additional clearance of 0.7 meters if the user is working in a
crouching or kneeling position. H is calculated as follows:
A) CONVENTIONAL USE (see Fig. 2a)
For a user weighing 100 kg in a "normal use" configuration with the Falcon Edge
connected at a height (Ha) of 5m and a lateral offset (A) of 1.3m, giving an angle
(B) of 15°, the clearance (H) required below the user's feet is 2.2m (2.3-0.1).
B) TERRACE USE (See Fig. 2b)
For a user weighing 136 kg in a "terrace use" configuration, with the Falcon Edge
connected at foot level, 5m from the edge of the terrace (Y), and with a lateral
offset (X) of 1.5m, the clearance (H) required below the user's feet is 5.50m.
