• That there is no sign of fatigue anywhere along the cable (corrosion, fraying
etc...) (See Fig. 3 & Fig. 17)
• That the Fall Indicator has not been illuminated (See Fig. 6)
• That the energy absorber has not been deployed and that the handle is in good
condition (See Fig. 6)
• That the markings are legible and that the product labels are in good condition.
If in doubt, or if one of the conditions referred to above is not met, take the PPE
out of service immediately and destroy it by cutting the retractable cable.
Always refer to the instructions for other items of PPE in the fall protection
system: in all circumstances.
A fall protection harness is the only grab device permitted for use in a lifeline
system.
We recommend you to check the following:
• No incipient tears to the strap.
• No distortion to the "Ds".
• That the buckle works correctly.
• That the stitching is undamaged.
• That the metal parts are in good condition (cracks, corrosion etc).
The lifeline should be attached.
ALWAYS AND EXCLUSIVELY with the back connector provided for this purpose
("D" or back strap extender) or via the chest anchor points (strap loop or "D").
In all circumstances, check that the anchor point:
• Is always correctly positioned and that the work is carried out in such a way as
to minimize the risk of falling and the height of fall
• Has a minimum resistance of 12 kN.
• Is perfectly compatible with the equipment's connection mechanism.
• Has no sharp edges.
For the connector, we recommend that you check the following points:
• When attaching the connector, check that the locking system is correctly
located.
• Allocate the connector to a specific person whenever possible.
• Before each use, ensure especially that there is no distortion, no signs of wear
and that the locking system is working properly.
7 - USE
In use, protect your PPE against any risk arising in from the work environment:
thermal, electrical or mechanical shock, acid projections etc.
In use, regularly check the adjustment and/or connection components.

7.2 - OVERVIEW
The self-retracting lifeline must be attached using carabiners. (see paragraph
7-3). When the user is moving, cable tension is maintained by the device's retractor
spring. In the event of a fall, the internal locking system prevents the cable from
paying out and halts the fall in the optimum conditions. The fact the protective
handle opens indicates that the cable has been subject to stress in halting the fall
(the device must be inspected by an accredited technician).
