INTENDED USE
The 3M™ G500 Headgear with face shield is designed to protect the wearer against
impacts to the eye and face, both from the front and the side.
3M™ Mesh Face shields meet the requirements of EN1731:2006, Mesh type eye and
face protectors.
3M™ Clear Face shields meet the requirements of EN166:2001, Personal Eye Protection.
Hearing protection can be easily attached if required.
A wide range of 3M™ Peltor™ Ear muffs with Helmet attachment (P3E) are compatible
and approved for use with the 3M™ G500 Headgear.
For attenuation values and proper fitting please see the appropriate Earmuff user
instruction.

Always be sure that the complete product is:
- Suitable for the application;
- Fitted correctly;
- Worn during all periods of exposure;
- Replaced when necessary.
Proper selection, training, use and appropriate maintenance are essential in order for
the product to help protect the wearer from impact hazards.
Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these personal protection products
and/or failure to properly wear the complete product during all periods of exposure
may adversely affect the wearer's health, lead to severe or life threatening illness or
permanent disability.
For suitability and proper use follow local regulations, refer to all information supplied
or contact an occupational hygienist, safety professional or 3M representative on the

Check apparatus is complete, undamaged and correctly assembled. Any damaged or
defective parts must be replaced with original 3M spare parts before use.
Eye protectors against high speed particles worn over standard opthalmic spectacles
may transmit impact energy, creating a hazard to the wearer.
Certain chemicals can cause damage to these products.
The product can cause allergic reactions on contact with very sensitive skin.

APPROVALS
These products meet the requirements of the European Community Directive 89/686/EEC
(Personal Protective Equipment Directive) and are thus CE marked.
Certification under Article 10, EC Type-Examination, has been issued for these products
by Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), Topeliuksenkatu 41aA, FIN-00250
Helsinki, Finland (Notified Body number 0403).

PREPARATION FOR USE
Inspect the product carefully before each use. Replace any parts that show signs of
damage such as scratches or cracks.

a) Detach the headband at the front
b) Position the cable inside the cable holder. Adapt the cable so that the same length of
cable goes to both ear muffs
c) Secure the cable using the fixing points on both sides

Adjusting the fit. There are 3 different ways to achieve a good fit:

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
The product should be cleaned regularly using a mild solution of detergent in warm water.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION
Do not store the product in direct sunlight or at high temperatures.
When not in use, it should be stored in a cool, dark location to prevent the material from
ageing.
The recommended maximum shelf life of the product is 5 years from the date of
manufacture.
The original packaging is suitable for transporting the product.
