10.3 BLADE REMOVAL
1. Raise all mowers. Lock the wing mowers into trans-
port position - Section 10.6. Stop the engine, disen-
gage the PTO and engage the parking brake.
2. Remove height adjust pins (U- Figure 10C) from the
front mower and carefully tilt the mower to a perpen-
dicular position. Use a chain or heavy rope to tie the
right front caster wheel arm to the right wing deck.
10.4 REPLACING BLADE
1. Make certain the air vanes of the blade point toward
the mower housing. Assemble adapter (E) to the new
blade with two 1/2-13x1-3/4 in., screws, lockwashers
and nuts (F).
2. Match the cutting edge of the blade with the arrow in
the deck then reassemble key (G) and hardware
(D).
3. Torque center screw (D) to 75 ft. lb. (101.7 Nm).
Torque screws (F) to 35-40 ft. lb. (47-54 Nm)
10.5 BLADE SHARPENING
1. When dressing or resharpening the blade DO NOT
follow the original angle of grind as shown in "AA".
Grind new cutting edges on a diagonal as shown in
"AB".
2. As a consequence of all resharpenings, a total loss
off of 1/2 in. (13 mm) of metal is allowable.
3. Make sure that each cutting edge is equally sharp-
ened to prevent having an unbalanced blade, this
will cause excessive vibration and may damage the
mower.
4. Use a blade balancer to check the blade.

3. Start the engine to lower the front lift arms and allow
the mower to rest on the ground; THEN STOP THE
ENGINE AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY.
4. Place a wooden block between the blade and the
mower housing to prevent the blade from turning.
Remove hardware (D), blade (H) and adapter (E).
