4. TREPHINATION

1. Pull back on the plunger of the syringe to create a
vacuum, causing the cornea to adhere to the Teflon® well.
2. Press the trephine blade support (AL) into the cylindrical
guide (AC) so that the trephine blade rests on the
endothelial surface of the cornea.
3. Push the trephine blade support (AL) downward firmly
with the fingertips in order to cut the graft (AM).
4. Maintain the suction so that the graft remains firmly
attached to the Teflon® well as you remove the trephine
blade support (AL), then unscrew the cylindrical guide (AC).

5. TROUBLESHOOTING

o
If the device does not function properly, make sure there is no visible defect. Check that the blade
locking system slides correctly, by turning it in both directions.
o
In the case of a suction problem, check the integrity of the 2 seals and the tubing. Replace them if
necessary.
o
In the case of an imprecise cut, check that the cylindrical guide is correctly screwed onto the base.
o
In case of particle deposits on the graft, check for the presence of Teflon® smears or shavings in
the holes. Also check the condition of the Teflon® well and replace it if necessary.
Maintenance : Replacing the Teflon® well (ref. 17171P)
-
Unscrew the revolving nut located under the base (AN).
-
Push the well downward until it falls (AO).
-
Place the new Teflon® well (as centrally as possible) without pressing on the nut (AP).
-
Tighten the revolving nut. The Teflon® well slides into place automatically (AQ).
The Teflon® well must be replaced when damaged or after every 10 uses.

ACTIONS
PRECAUTIONS
If the adherence remains weak, it is possible to insert the
trephine blade support (see step 2) and to apply suction
again with the syringe. The weight of the trephine blade
support enables adequate adherence.
Do not use the palm of the hand; the resulting pressure may
be excessive and could damage the Teflon® well. Teflon®
enables the single-use blade to penetrate the material very
slightly. This ensures that the graft is cut along the entire
circumference.
