This machine must not be used for any work other than that
for which the machine is designed and which is described in
the operating manual. Any other use will be deemed
incorrect. The manufacturer cannot accept any liability for
resulting damage or injuries. Please note that this machine is
not designed for commercial use.
Terminology
Primer pump
To make the auger easier to start after it has not been used
for a lengthy period.
Friction clutch
The friction clutch is part of the general mechanical system. It
connects two shafts in a force-fit until a defined transferred
torque is reached.
Centrifugal clutch
A centrifugal clutch is a clutch, in which a force-fit is
established by the weight moving to the outside as the speed
increases, resulting in contact with the internal wall of the
clutch housing (clutch bell housing), which at the same time
acts as an output.
Choke
A choke is a component on carburettor engines which allows
the air intake to the carburettor to be restricted.
Residual dangers and safety measures
Mechanical residual dangers
Entanglement, winding
The drill bit can entangle and draw in string, wire or
pieces of clothing.
Always wear close-fitting clothing and safety shoes and do
not wear jewellery, protect your hair with a hairnet.
If the bit stops suddenly, the handles may strike the
operator.
Hold the handles tightly and wear protective clothing.
Residual electrical dangers
Direct electrical contact
If you touch the spark plug connector, you may suffer an
electric shock if the engine is running.
Do not touch the spark plug connector when the engine is
running.
Residual thermal dangers
Burns, frostbite
Touching the exhaust may cause burns.
Allow the machine to cool down.
Dangers from noise
Hearing damage
Working for lengthy intervals with the machine may
result in hearing damage.
Always wear ear protectors.
Dangers from vibration
All-body vibration
Working for lengthy intervals with the machine may
cause adverse physical effects due to vibration.
Take regular breaks.
Dangers from materials and other substances
Contact, inhalation
Inhaling the exhaust gases may be very harmful.
The machine may only be used outdoors.
Fire and explosion
The machine is powered by a highly inflammable fuel
mixture which may ignite, for example, during the
refuelling process.

Ignoring ergonomic principles
Neglecting to use personal protective equipment
Using the machine without the appropriate protective
equipment may result in serious external and internal
injuries.
Always wear the specified protective clothing and work with
caution.
Inadequate local lighting
Poor lighting means an increased safety risk.
Always ensure there is adequate lighting when working with
the machine.
Other dangers
Catapulted objects or liquids
During drilling, parts of the bit or mechanical particles
may injure your eyes.
Always wear protective goggles when working with the
machine.
Waste disposal
The disposal instructions are shown in the pictograms on the
machine or packaging. A description of the various symbols is
provided in the section entitled "Labels on the machine".
Requirements for the operator
The operator must have read the operating manual carefully
before using the machine.
Qualifications
Other than detailed induction training by a trained person, no
special qualifications are required for using the machine.
Minimum age
The machine may only be used by people over the age of 16.
It may be used by young people if this use forms part of
vocational training to achieve a qualification under the
supervision of a trainer.
Training
The use of the machine only requires a suitable induction. No
specific training is required.
What to do in an emergency
Administer the appropriate first aid for the injury and request
medical assistance as quickly as possible.
Protect the victim from further harm and keep him or her
calm.
A first aid kit which complies with DIN 13164 should be to
hand at the workplace at all times to provide treatment in
the event of an accident. Material removed from the first
aid kit should be replaced without delay.
