Risk of fire and explosion
Flammable vapours such as solvent and paint fumes, can ignite or explode. The risk of fire and explosion
can be reduced by observing the following measures:
Never spray flammable or combustible substances in the vicinity of open fire or ignition sources such as
cigarettes, motors and electrical equipment.
Static electricity may result from processing paint or solvent in the system. Static electricity may cause fire
or explosions if paint or solvent vapours are involved.
All parts of the spraying system including the pump, hoses, spray gun and objects in or near the spraying
area must be correctly earthed to provide protection against static discharge and sparks. Use original
STORCH air hoses only.
Check whether all containers and collection systems have been grounded to prevent static discharge.
Connect the device to an earthed mains socket and use earthed extension leads. Do not use a 3-to-2
adapter.
Do not use paints or solvents containing halogenated hydrocarbons.
Make sure that the application area is always well ventilated. Keep a good supply of fresh air moving
through the area. Keep pump assembly in a well ventilated area. Do not spray the pump.
Do not smoke in the spray area.
Do not actuate or use light switches, motors or similar products that create sparks in the spraying area.
Ensure that the area remains clean and paint or solvent containers and substances do not contain other
flammable substances.
Note the contents of paints and solvents used. Read all data sheets on material safety as well as paint and
solvent container labels. Note the safety regulations of the paint and solvent manufacturer.
A functional fire extinguisher must be kept available at all times.
The spraying device generates sparks. When using flammable liquids in or near the spraying device, or
flushing/cleaning with such liquids, the spraying device must be kept at least 6 m away from flammable
vapours.
Risk of electric shock
Incorrect grounding or configuration and incorrect use of the system can cause an electric shock.
Before starting service work, always switch off the main switch and pull the power plug.
Only use sockets that are earthed.
Only use three wire extension leads.
The earth contacts must be intact on the spraying device and the extension leads.
Risk of device misuse
Misuse of the device and equipment can result in fatal or serious injury.
When spraying always wear protective gloves, safety glasses, and breathing protection.
Never use the device when children are nearby. Keep children away from the system.
Never deposit the machine on an uneven surface; never overreach. Keep a secure stance and balance at all
times.
Remain alert and pay attention to what your actions.
Do not operate the device if you are tired or if you are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
Do not kink or over-bend the hose.
Do not expose the hose to temperatures or pressures above the specifications.
Do not use the hose as a strength member to pull or lift the equipment.
