4.3.
Installing suction components
The first part of the assembly can be done on a flat surface and it is necessary to use the lifting flange, graphite grease, flat
spanners and the clamp for assembling the components in fig. 3:
Clean the flanges of the strainer and of the pump that are in contact with the flat gasket (A-B –E – Fig. 3). Coat the threads
of the screws and bolts used for assembly with an appropriate product.
Assemble A, B, G, F, I, H and J with the screws C and K. The OR gasket F of the pump flange is very important and
must be in the seat provided. In case of doubt, see fig. 5 which clearly indicates the position of these gaskets and their
seats.
Clean the threaded ends of one of the shafts I and apply a light layer of grease on the thread on the end without the
chromed bush.
Insert this shaft in the pipe, keeping the threaded part coated with grease towards the pump.
Move the shaft forward towards the threaded sleeve of the pump and screw it on using two flat spanners inserted in the
notches provided (fig. 6).
Move the pipe forward on the pump and fix the line shaft with the nuts C.
After having cleaned the flat surfaces of the bearing support H, insert two OR F into the neck of this as indicated in fig. 5.
Check that the support is equipped with its rubber bearing and OR F. Insert it into the shaft with the part which mostly juts
out downwards, then inserting it into the pipe (support H, OR F, shaft)..
Cover the threaded part of the shaft jutting out from the bearing with a thin layer of graphited grease.
Screw the coupling J on to the shaft I. (fig. 7).
Fix the clamp on the line shaft near the flange and, supporting the whole with a suitable belt or chain, lift and install the
assembly on the support base (fig. 4).
