Notes
Please contact a qualified specialist workshop if you
encounter difficulties when fitting the basic carrier
bars. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this purpose.
The manufacturer reserves the right to change
technical details from those shown in the illustrations
contained in these installation instructions.
1. The basic carrier bars for the GLK are not approved for the
facelift model (starting 06/2012), as it is not possible to safely
and securely install them. Please contact your Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre if you have any questions.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you only use accessories that have been
approved for Mercedes-Benz specifically for use with
these carrier bars.

G
Risk of injury and accident
Each individual step of the installation
instructions, the warning notes, the general safety
precautions and the instructions for use must be
followed exactly. If the basic carrier bars are not
fitted correctly, it and the load could become
detached from your vehicle and thus injure you
and others and/or cause damage to property,
including damage to your vehicle.
G
Risk of injury and accident
The roof load creates a larger surface area exposed
to the wind and results in the vehicle having a higher
centre of gravity, thereby changing the vehicle's
driving characteristics. For example, the additional
weight on the vehicle roof can impair the braking,
cornering and acceleration capability of the vehicle.
Always adapt your driving style to the road, traffic
and weather conditions, and drive with particular
care when the roof is loaded.
Always exercise greater care when driving with
the basic carrier bars fitted to the vehicle, even if
the bars are not loaded.
Make sure that you never exceed the maximum
roof load or the maximum permissible gross
weight for your vehicle, even when roof
attachments (e.g. ski rack, bicycle rack, etc.) are
fitted. Otherwise, the basic carrier bars, the roof
attachments and/or the load could become
detached from the vehicle and thus injure you and
others and/or cause damage to property,
including damage to your vehicle.
