Intended Use

Transfer Sheet
Transfer sheets allow caregivers to laterally transfer a
patient without lifting, reducing the risk of caregiver
fatigue and musculoskeletal injury.
Transfer sheets may also be used to turn a patient onto
their side or slide them up and down in their bed.
Transfer sheets can reduce patient anxiety and/or
discomfort experienced with traditional transfer methods.
The sheets are designed to reduce friction and shearing of
the skin as one sheet always slides against itself and not the
patient.

General Care and Use

Check the transfer sheet prior to each use to ensure it is not
damaged in any way. Do not use if there are any signs of wear
and damage on any part of the transfer sheet.
Follow cleaning instructions as indicated. Clean only
with a neutral detergent. Do not autoclave.
Only qualified persons should perform patient
transfers. Use caution during transfer.
The transfer sheet should never be used to lift a
patient under any circumstance.
The transfer sheet is not intended to transfer
patients from a supine position to a chair.
Do not leave the transfer sheet under a patient
unattended at any time. Sheets are not designed to
breathe or allow moisture transfer away from skin.
Prolonged exposure may cause skin breakdown.
Slip hazard! Do not leave sheet under patient.
Facility administrator and/or risk management
department should approve all patient handling
protocols associated with transfer sheet prior to use.
Under some circumstances, more than one caregiver
may be needed to perform a transfer.
Prior to using on a patient, it is strongly
recommended that training or practice with other
caregivers is done until the user is comfortable with
using the product.
Assess the patient's ability to handle the move prior
to using the transfer sheet.
