Chevron RPM EP Hydraulic Oil 46, BP Energol HLP).
NB: If the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir has to be changed, don't forget that the reservoir has its own drain plug.
WARNING!
Dispose of the used oil following current regulations.
3) Check the vertical and horizontal carriages periodically to ensure that any play between the guides and guide shoes is not excessive.
This will prevent irreversible damage to the moving mechanical parts.
To check the play of the vertical carriage raise it manually using the threaded pin (1, Fig. Z5) as indicated by the arrow in the figure.
If there is evident play, adjust the guide shoes according to the procedure described below.
ADJUSTING THE VERTICAL CARRIAGE GUIDE SHOES
1) Disconnect the machine from the electric power source.
2) Remove the guard (2 Fig. Z5)
3) Loosen the 4 fixing nuts (3 Fig. Z5) of the upper left guide shoe.
4) Loosen the 4 fixing nuts (4 Fig. Z5) of the lower left guide shoe.
5) Loosen the 4 adjuster lock nuts (5 Fig. Z5) on the left side of the carriage.
6) Unscrew the screws alternately (6 Fig. Z5).
Do not force the tightening operation but lift by means of the pin (1 Fig. Z5) to check remaining play; then tighten the screws (6 Fig. Z5)
enough to eliminate the play.
7) Fully tighten the lock nuts (5 Fig. Z5)
8) Refit the guard (2 Fig. Z5)
9) Re-connect to the electric power source, making sure that the newly adjusted carriage moves smoothly.
If it is too stiff on the guides, repeat the adjustment procedure described in point 1 of this chapter to slightly loosen the previously tightened
adjuster nuts (6 Fig. Z5).
ADJUSTING THE HORIZONTAL CARRIAGE GUIDE SHOES
1) Loosen the 4 lock nuts (1 Fig. Z6) and (2 Fig. Z6) on the carriage.
2) Using a lever (6 Fig. Z6) (e.g., a tyre lever) inserted in the slot (4 Fig. Z6) of
the carriage (3 Fig. Z6) exercise sufficient pressure to push the guide shoe located
below it (7 Fig. Z6) against the guide (8 Fig. Z6) fixed to the tyre changer base.
3) Lock the nuts (1 Fig. Z6) and release the lever.
4) Repeat the same operation on the other guide shoe through the slot (5 Fig. Z6)
on the carriage.
NB: Do not use excessive pressure with the lever on the sliding shoes. On this carriage,
play, if any, causes very little wear on the moving components; correct adjustment
will therefore ensure minimum play between coupled parts.
NB: The gear unit installed on this tyre changer does NOT require any maintenance as it is filled with "LONG LIFE" grease.
If the grease in the gear unit has to be changed, use one of the following types of grease (or equivalent): Vanguard ML00EP, BP FG00EP, Esso
Transmission Grease EP, IP Atina, Mobil Mobilplex 44, Shell Simnia 0, Total Carter SY00.
