MOUNTING
1) Clamp the rim on the self centering device, as described in the 'CLAMPING THE
WHEEL' paragraph, making sure that the seating for the bead wire is turned out-
wards.
NB: For rims wider than the centring rollers, it is advisable to use the optional ac-
cessory, LRB Large Rim Board.
2) Start turning to bring the slot for the valve in the rim in the lower position (6
o'clock).
3) Fit the inner tube in the tyre, then fit the flap closing ring.
4) Lubricate the tyre's beads, the flap and the rim with a soap solution.
5) Raise the tyre on to the centring rollers and turn it by hand to bring the valve
to the bottom (6 o'clock position), then accurately centre the rim on the tyre by
moving the vertical carriage.
WARNING: If the valve is aligned properly, as soon as the slot on the rim is reached,
this will enter and come out automatically.
6) Move the horizontal carriage to get the rim inside the tyre.
WARNING: Get the valve back into the flap ring by hand, as soon as it is close to
the edge of the rim (Fig. Z7), so that it slips in without damaging the rim profile.
NB: If the valve is not lined up with the slot in the rim after the tyre has been completely fitted, lower the wheel by exercising pressure on
the centring rollers, and turn alternately in both directions. Moving the rim away from the tyre will allow the slot to align with the valve.
7) Position the bead breaker disk on the outer side of the carriage, start turning it and move it forward on the bead until it is completely
inserted.
8) Keep the bead pressed with the bead breaker disk as you position the bead wire on the rim.
9) Fit one end of the clamping ring in its seating, place the disk in contact (Fig. Z4) and turn until it is inserted completely.
10) Remove the bead breaker disk and move the horizontal carriage under the wheel, then allow it to rest.
11) Remove the spinner and the wheel clamping cone, taking care to hold it to prevent it from falling.
12) Move the carriage to get the wheel away from the spindle.
13) Remove the wheel from the tyre changer.
DANGER!!
Do not inflate the tyre with the wheel mounted on the tyre changer.
Tyre inflation is dangerous and should only be done by removing the wheel from the tyre changer and placing it
inside a safety cage.
