Prior to putting the unit/spray gun into operation, read the oper-
ating instructions completely and thoroughly. The stipulations
contained therein are to be respected in any case. After that, the
operating instructions are to be stored in a safe place, accessible
for every user of the equipment. The unit/spray gun may only be
put into operation by persons familiar with its use (profession-
als). Inappropriate use of the unit/spray gun, modification of any
kind or combination with inappropriate other parts may cause
material damage, serious hazard to the user's, other person's or
animal's health or even death (e.g. failure to respect the stipula-
tions laid out in the operating instructions) for which SATA shall
not take any responsibility. The applicable safety, workplace and
worker health protection regulations of the respective country or
area/district in which the system/the spray gun is used are to be
respected in any case (e.g. the German Rules for the Prevention
of Accidents BGR 500 and BGV D24 issued by the Central Office
of the Professional Trade Associations, etc.)
2. Putting into Operation
ATTENTION!
Before bringing the HKU barrel pump 200 l into operation, please
apply enclosed Loctite 243 to the thread of the suction tube (Art.
No. 70086) and screw the thread in barrel pump. Drying time
approx. 10 minutes!
Put pump into material barrel and tighten barrel fitting 39727.
Connect pair of hoses to respective outlet on pump. Connect
spray gun with hoses (air hose is marked „Luft"). Unscrew
both pressure regulator screws so that spring is fully released.
Connect pump to air line. Increase air pressure on pump (right
pressure regulator) up to 2.5 bar (36,25 psi) and wait for pump
to cease operation. Check all screws and spray gun for proper
sealing, tighten loose connections if necessary. Increase air
pressure on pump to 4 bar (58 psi). Again check screws for
proper sealing. Adjust spray pressure on left pressure regulator
to 5 bar (72,5 psi). Pull spray gun trigger and test whether an
air / material mix is coming out of the spray gun quick coupling.
Connect right wand and again spray test unit on paper. Unit is
now ready for operation.

3. Operation Advice

Follow material recommendations of car manufacturer and select
wand accordingly. Move wand in a regular, controlled manner
while spraying. The spray gun trigger has two functions: pulling
it to the first step triggers spray air only (to blow-clean surface
after coating); pulling it completely triggers an air / material mix.

4. Safety Instructions

Do not point spray gun on yourself, other persons or animals.
Always keep a tight grip on the wands. Do not perform any main-
tenance work on the unit under pressure (e.g. filter cleaning)
Always disconnect unit from air line.

5. Cleaning

After work, clean spray gun and wands, as per the respective
material manufacturer's stipulation, with gasoline, petroeleum
or diesel oil. We recommend putting only the spray gun head,
respectively the wand nozzle into cleaning agent in order to

ensure immediate spray gun availability. Disconnect pump from
air line. Protect unit from humidity (e.g. overspray in washing
halls). For interruptions of several days we recommend operat-
ing the whole unit with cleaning agent. Regularly clean sieve No.

Warning! Attention!
• Prior to cleaning, please disconnect the paint spray gun
from the compressed air circuit!
• Risk of injury due to unexpected leakage of compressed air
or material!
• Empty paint spray gun and gravity flow cup completely,
dispose of paint material appropriately!
• Disassemble and install components very carefully! Exclu-
sively use included special tools!
• Use neutral cleaning solution (pH value 6 to 8)!*
• Do not use acids, lyes, pickling agents, unsuitable
reclaimed materials or other aggresive cleaning media,
such as Toluol, for example!*
• Do not soak paint spray gun in cleaning solution!*
• Drillings are to be cleaned with SATA cleaning brushes or
SATA nozzle cleaning needles only. The use of other tools
may cause damage or may affect the spray pattern. Recom-
mended accessory: cleaning kit Art. No. 64030.
• Exclusively use spray gun washing machines recommended
by SATA! Please observe the operating instructions!
• The air passages have to be pressurised with clean com-
pressed air during the entire cleaning process!
• Nozzle head has to point downwards!
• Remove the spray gun from the gun washing machine
right after the cleaning process!*
• Never use ultrasonic cleaning devices - leads to damage of
nozzle set and gun surface!
• After cleaning, the spray gun, the material passages, the
air cap including thread as well as the gravity flow cup
have to be blown dry with clean compressed air!*
* otherwise risk of corrosion

6. Maintenance

The unit does not require maintenance except lubrication of
the moveable spray gun parts. Each SATA HKU unit was duly
inspected for proper function prior to delivery. Optimum function
and performance of the unit is also to be ensured by appropriate
handling and maintenance. Only use original spare parts.
