they must be replaced. Always replace "O" rings which are
no longer flexible, worn or deformed.
1.5 Clean all packing and sliding surfaces and grease them with
suitable grease (Art. No. 48173). Especially all "O" rings and
packings must be greased before reassembly.
1.6 Use Varnolen or similar liquids for cleaning the parts. If a
water based fluid is used, all parts must be dried, immedi-
ately and carefully, directly after cleaning in order to avoid
any corrosion.
2.
Air Motor
2.1 Fasten the outlet housing of the pump into a vise, with the
pump pipe in a vertical position. Loosen the 4 screws (Pos.
2) which are holding the air cylinder (Pos. 7) to the outlet
housing and remove the cylinder.
2.2 Inspect the mechanism (Pos. 5) for wear and damage.
There must be no damage to the seal lips, neither the small
seals in the mechanism, nor the large one which seals
against the cylinder wall.
2.3 Check that no oil/spraying material has leaked above the
packing (Pos. 15) in the packing sleeve (Pos. 9).
2.4 If the packing (Pos. 8) or the mechanism (Pos. 5) is to be
changed, the central bar (Pos. 16) must be pulled out until
you can see the purging hole in the central bar through the
ventilation opening in the packing sleeve (Pos. 9). Insert a
screwdriver or similar tool into the hole and loosen mecha-
nism by means of the special tool (Pos. 1). If you do not
have this tool you can, with the help of a cloth or industrial
glove, grab the mechanism. Be careful not to scratch or
damage the surface of the central bar.
2.5 Loosen mechanism (Pos. 5), which should not work easily.
Pull up packing sleeve. Now you can examine the surface of
the central bar and remove the packing. If the bottom pack-
ing must be examined, remove the central bar from the bot-
tom part. For this purpose, knock out the pin (Pos. 18) and
screw off the central bar from the bottom piston rod (Pos. 6).
Warning! Carefully examine the packings of the central
bar for wear. It is impossible for the pump to work cor-
rectly if the central bar is damaged or scratched.
2.6 Replace worn parts and reassemble all components in
reverse order as with dismantling.
2.7 Important! Always grease all sliding and packing surfaces
with suitable grease (Art. No. 48173) before assembly.
3.
Pump Pipe
3.1 Fasten the outlet housing of the pump into a vise with the
pump tube in horizontal position. Unscrew the pump pipe
(Pos. 4) with a strap wrench. Do not use a pipe wrench, as
the pump pipe may be damaged.
3.2 Pull off pump pipe and check piston packings (Pos. 10). In
case they are worn or damaged, replace them.
3.3 Be careful to avoid any dirt getting in and around the piston
assembly. Replace all parts which are worn or damaged.
3.4 If you suspect dirt in the inlet valve (Pos 14) remove it for
inspection. If the inlet valve is removed, the O-ring (Pos 12)
between the inlet valve and the pump tube must be replaced.
