7. HYDRAULIC INSTALLATION
The boiler Hydroboreal 14 from Boreal has been designed for installation with a closed expansion vessel, where the water contained does not
communicate direct or indirectly with the atmosphere. In general, the installation of closed expansion vessel is provided with a pre-charged closed vessel
EN
with a gas-tight membrane.
•
SAFETY VALVES
The boiler is provided with a safety valve set at 3 bars pressure, in order to work during possible increases of pressure on the installation.
The discharge flow rate of the safety valve must allow to discharge an amount of vapour not lower than Q / 0.58 [kg. h], where Q is the useful power
transferred to the water of the generator expressed in kilowatts.
The fitter must control the maximum pressure in each point of the installation so that it does not pass the maximum working pressure of each component.
The safety valve is placed on the top of the boiler, next to the exit tube. The discharge tube of the safety valve must be made so that it allows the normal
operation and does not cause damages to people; the discharge must end near to the safety valve and be visible and accessible.
CLOSED EXPANSION VESSEL
•
The boiler is provided with a 6 l. closed expansion vessel, pre-charged at 1.5 bars.
The maximum working pressure of the vessel is lower than the calibrated pressure of the safety valve. The fitter must anticipate the capacity of the
expansion vessel by analysing the total capacity of the installation and placing another additional vessel if necessary.
The closed expansion vessels must conform to the provisions in terms of design, fabrication, conformity assessment and use for pressure equipments.
In case of multiple heating generators (boilers that use other fuels or wood-burning thermo-fireplaces) that work in the same installation or the same
secondary circuit, it is compulsory to connect each generator with an expansion vessel, completely scaled for the total volume of water contained in the
same installation and in the same independent circuit.
•
CONTROLS DURING THE FIRST START-UP
Before the connection of the boiler make:
a.
A careful cleaning of all installation pipes to remove any residues that may damage the operation of some components of the installation (pumps,
valves, etc.)
b.
A control to check the correct draught of the smoke exit, the absence of strangulations and make sure that there are not discharges from other
equipments in the smoke exit duct.
c.
The correct purged of the installation.
•
FEED WATER CHARACTERISTIQUES
The water physical-chemical characteristics are very important for the proper operation and the durability of the boiler .
Among the consequences caused by the low quality of the feed water, the most frequent consequence is the incrustation in the thermal exchange
surfaces.
It is also known that calcareous incrustations reduce the thermal exchange, even with a few millimetres, causing that some localised heat spots are
harmful. It is strongly recommended to do a water treatment in the following cases:
a.
The maximum water hardness must not exceed 60 mg/l. In other case it is responsibility of the fitter the placement of osmosis equipments.
b.
Very large installations.
c.
Consecutive fillings caused by maintenance works of the installation or produced by loss.
For the treatment of the feed water of the thermal installations it is recommended to ask for an authorised fitter.
•
BOILER WATER CONNECTIONS
On the back of the boiler, you will find the hydraulic connections to facilitate connections. You will find a sticker on
each of the connections; flow, return, boiler drain and drain of the safety valve.
•
FILLING THE SYSTEM
When the hydraulic connections are finished you can connect the system.
Open all the air vent valves of radiators, boiler and installation.
WARNING!! The boiler is provided of an automatic water trap. Make sure that all the air vent
devices are placed in the highest position of the installation because it might not be enough.
Do not forget to open the covers of the purgers in order to allow the air outlet.
Open the fill tap gradually making sure that all the air vent valves work normally. Control the installation is under
pressure by using a gauge. Pressure must be between 1,0 and 1,4 bars with an installation provided with a
closed vessel. Close the fill tap and purge again the air on the boiler through the air vent valve.
•
HYDRAULIC SCHEMES
Now we show you a series of representative schemes with different hydraulic connections. These schemas do not preclude the obligation and / or
necessity by the fitter to install different components not showed (anti-electrolytic cuffs, expansion vessels, circulation pumps, back end protection valves
(thermal shock valves), water treatment systems, air vent valves, mixing valves, stopcocks ...) that makes more reliable, durable and comfortable the
installation or the boiler. Boreal only guarantee an optimal work of the boiler when the installation is made with an accumulation tank (buffer tank), and
only the fitter is responsible for the use or non-use of this.
