6. Handling Instructions

6.1 Initial operation and filter cartridge change

1 Prior to the first use or when changing the exhausted filter cartridge: clean
jug, funnel and lid of the BWT water filtering system with a detergent and rinse
thoroughly with warm water. Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or scrub-
bing sponges, as scratch marks could be left on the BWT water filtering system.
Jug and funnel can be washed in the dishwasher. The lid may not be washed in
the dishwasher.
In order to achieve best possible filtration performance, we recommend you to

put the new filter cartridge in tap water for 5 minutes. After that please discard
the water.
Subsequently insert the new filter cartridge into the funnel of the water filtering

system by pressing it in lightly into place.
If the BWT water filtering system is equipped with the automatic filling system

„Easy-Fill" in the lid, it is not necessary to take off the lid when filling the jug.
The „Easy-Fill" system opens automatically, when the water jet meets the ope-
ning and closes automatically after filling.
Discard the first filtered water filling and refill the BWT water filtering system.

Fine black particles of activated carbon could be flushed out, which are,
how ever, completely harmless. In this case we recommend to refill the jug and
discard the water again until it is clear and free from particles.
6 The BWT water filtering system is now ready for use.
