PREPARATION FOR USE

1. Open shipping container(s).
Do not use sharp instruments to open boxes. Damage to mattress could result.
2. Remove AtmosAir Stretcher Mattress from plastic protective cover.
Mattress cover may appear wrinkled when unpacked. To remove wrinkles, allow mattress up to 24 hours to
accommodate. Wrinkles will not affect inflation or function; mattress may be used immediately if needed.
If mattress feels too firm upon arrival, the difference in altitude may not be sufficient to open mattress
valves. Apply weight to mattress to open valves.
3. Check mattress surface for tears or cracking; do not use if tears or cracks are present.
4. Level stretcher and lock brakes.
5. Remove existing mattress from stretcher.
6. Remove any existing hook-and-loop material from stretcher pan and/or clean any remaining residue, adhesive,
etc. from stretcher pan surface.

INSTALLATION

1. Remove clear backing from hook-and-loop strips located on the underside of the AtmosAir Stretcher Mattress.
2. Position mattress on stretcher with printed text facing up, hook-and-loop strips facing down (against stretcher pan)
and product information label at foot end of stretcher.
Use caution when positioning mattress. Once the sticky side of the hook-and-loop strips adheres to the
stretcher pan, the strips cannot be pulled up and repositioned.
3. Press mattress down to adhere sticky side of hook-and-loop strips to stretcher pan.
Always use a standard stretcher frame with safeguards or protocols that may be appropriate. Frame
and side rails must be properly sized relative to the mattress to help minimize any gaps that might
entrap a patient's head or body.

PATIENT TRANSFER

1. Inspect, clean and disinfect AtmosAir Stretcher Mattress before each new patient is placed on the product.
2. Verify all caster brakes are locked for transfer.
3. Transfer patient following all applicable safety rules and institution protocols.
4. Position patient on mattress centered from top to bottom and side to side.

GENERAL OPERATION

Avoid contact of sharp instruments with the AtmosAir
Stretcher Mattress. Punctures, cuts and tears may prevent
proper inflation and air pressure maintenance.
