195. Remove the cowling and prepare the screw holes by
threading an M3 x 10 self-tapping screw into each hole.
Remove the screws and place a few drops of thin CA in each
hole to harden the surrounding wood. Allow the CA to fully
cure before proceeding. Use a pin vise and 1/8-inch (3mm)
drill bit to enlarge the holes in the cowling for the mounting
screws.
196. Use hobby scissors and a rotary tool with a sanding drum to
remove the material from the bottom of the cowling to clear
the muffl er stacks. This is also necessary for the EP version to
allow air to pass over the motor and speed controller.
 Adjust the size of the opening to provide sufficient
clearance for the muffler stacks, or to provide air
flow to properly cool you engine or motor.
197. Attach the muffl er to the engine. Trim the cowling to fi t the
muffl er. Attach the cowling to the fuselage using four M3 x 10
self-tapping screws. Tighten the screws using a #2 Phillips
screwdriver
 Use care when trimming the cowling for the needle
valve extension. Start with a small hole and enlarge
it slowly to ensure it has been located correctly.
Important Information About Your Spinner
 Always ensure the spinner and spinner backplate are
balanced before installation. An unbalanced spinner and
spinner backplate may cause poor flight characteristics.
198. Secure the propeller and spinner backplate to the engine.
Attach the spinner cone to the spinner backplate using the
four M3 x 10 sheet metal screws and #1 Phillips screwdriver.
 SCALE ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
199. Glue the exhausts to the cowling using a silicone adhesive
or contact adhesive. Allow the adhesive to fully cure before
proceeding. Use low-tack tape to hold the exhausts secure
until the adhesive fully cures.
P-51D Mustang 20cc
200. Glue the pilot into the pilot seat using a silicone adhesive
or contact adhesive. Allow the adhesive to fully cure before
proceeding. Use low-tack tape to hold the pilot secure until
the adhesive fully cures.
201. Lightly sand the inside edge of the canopy using medium grit
sandpaper. Remove any oils or debris with a paper towel and
isopropyl alcohol. Use canopy glue or contact adhesive to
attach the canopy to the cockpit hatch. Use low-tack tape to
hold the canopy in position until the adhesive fully cures.
202. Remove the covering on the top of the fuselage for the
antenna. Thread the antenna into the pre-installed nut in the
fuselage.
 Remove the antenna for transport to
avoid damage to it or the fuselage.
203. Remove the covering on the bottom of the wing for the drop
tank mounts.
204. Attach the drop tank mounts to the bottom of the wing using
two M3 x 15 socket head cap screws and two M3 lock
washers. Thread the screws into the pre-installed nuts in the
wing. Use a 2.5mm hex wrench to tighten the screws.
