• The user and/or operator are responsible for using and operating the appliance and
accessories.
• You must wash your hands thoroughly before commencing any work involving the
oxygen supply. Hydrocarbon compounds (e.g. oils, greases, rubbing alcohols, hand
creams or remains of adhesive plasters) can cause explosive reactions if they come
into contact with highly compressed gases.
• Medical gases are a medicinal product and as such may only be used in accordance
with instructions issued by the doctor responsible for the care of the patient in question.
5.1

Commissioning

• If the appliance has been out of service for more than 6 months, a performance test
must be performed before using it.
• All of the connections to the gas extraction point, the appliance, connected
equipment and accessories must be undamaged, clean and free from oil and
grease! Soiling on the pressure regulator can ignite.
• The gauge shows the outlet pressure relative to the ambient pressure. Observe
the ambient pressure (large height, overpressure) when setting the pressure.
5.1.1 adjustable pressure regulator
1. Check on the type plate whether the appliance is suitable for the intended
purpose (type of gas, pressure). The maximum permissible inlet pressure of
the appliance must be greater than or equal to the line pressure.
2. Turn the handwheel as far as it will go to the left (anti-clockwise).
Only use moderate force to turn the handwheel as far as the stop.
3. Prepare the downstream equipment and the accessories required for operation in
accordance with the relevant instructions for use.
4. Remove the protective caps covering the connections on the appliance and keep them
in a safe place.
5. Appliances with NIST inlet connection: Connect the TESCOM EUROPE hose with inlet
connection in accordance with the relevant instructions for use.
The temperature of the gas and the pressure regulator drops during operation.
This can produce hypothermia in the patient.
6. Connect the inlet connection on the pressure regulator to the gas extraction point.
7. Use the correct and proper procedures to connect the downstream equipment and
accessories to the outlet connection on the appliance.
The connections must match. Do not use adapters nor modify the connections
on the appliances.
