Parts thus treated are recognizable because of their opaque, tarnished and partly
spotty surfaces. This appearance of this surface is intentional and should not be
confused with traces of wear.
This state is important for the following analysis and may not be treated with
brushes or other hard materials.
Wiping and drying should be done using a soft cloth.
The C 6010 decomposition vessel can not be used for such ap-
plications because of the safety risk and insufficient analysis
results.
Care and maintenance
The work described in the following may only be performed by person-
nel with professional training or IKA
All work on the fittings of the decomposition vessel require a leak test and new
pressure testing.
Furthermore, reference is made to the regulation for pressure Vessels 2014/68/EU.
Send in the case of service the equipment back in the original packaging. Storage
packing is not sufficient for the back dispatch. Use additionally a suitable packing.
Replacing the ignition wire
The C 6010 and C 6012 decomposition vessels are equipped with a fixed ignition
wire. Since the ignition wire is subjected to a high degree of material stress during
combustion, it should be replaced after 100 tests for C 6010 (kanthal) and after
50 tests for C 6012 (platinum) at the latest. However, this largely depends on the
type of samples fired.
The ignition wire must also be replaced if corrosion occurs.

.
The crucible holder must not be twisted while doing so. Leak-
ages of the decomposition vessel are the results (see the section
"Leakage test").
NOTE
Leakages at the decomposition vessel container can cause
heavy damage to the calorimeter and the decomposition ves-
sel. Ignoring can lead to health impairment and injury.
Insert/Tightening of the ignition wire:
The ignition wire is shaped in such a way that the electrodes of the decomposition
vessel fit into the eyes.
The following points have to be strictly observed:
• Align the ignition wire horizontally between the electrodes
• Do not press the electrodes together. The shielding of the ignition electrodes (13)
and the crucible holder (item 8) must not touch the ground electrode (item 7).
(see details "Z")
• The ignition electrode must not be twisted and thereby loosened
• Follow the sequence in reverse to tighten the nut
• Ensure that there is a sound contact with the ignition wire.

electrode (item 7) and crucible holder (item 8).
