2. Safety instructions
2.1 Safety regulations
•
Please read this instruction manual carefully. It is part of the device and
must always be available.
•
Please also follow the instruction manuals included with your therapy
device, your oxygen system and all accessories.
•
Use the oxygen valve for the described purpose only (see "1.
Description" on page 31).
•
During therapy with oxygen, your clothes, bedclothes or hair can come
into contact with oxygen-enriched air. This means easy fl ammability.
Therefore, do not smoke nor use candles or fire nearby. This also applies
after therapy until oxygen has been removed by thorough ventilation.
•
Do not exceed the maximum supply quantity of 4 l/min. Higher rates can
result in oxygen accumulation in the therapy device.
•
If used or dosed improperly, oxygen therapy can have side-effects.
Therefore, use the device only if it has been prescribed by a doctor.
Always ensure that the fl ow prescribed by the physician is applied
(maximum 4 l/min.).
•
Always follow the safety instructions in the instruction manual supplied
with your oxygen system.
•
Have repairs carried out only by the manufacturer or refer to your dealers
for repairs.
•
Please follow section "5. Hygienic preparation" on page 37 to prevent
infection or bacterial contamination.
•
Do not allow liquids to get into the therapy device or into the housing of
the oxygen valve. The electronic components could be damaged.
•
If third-party items are used, functional failures may occur and fitness for
use may be restricted. Biocompatibility requirements may also not be
met. Please note that in such cases, any claim under warranty and liability
will be voided if neither the accessories nor genuine replacement parts
recommended in the instructions for use are used.
•
As there may be problems with communication in the course of setting
therapy parameters (e.g., Softstart time, humidity level, therapy pres-
sure), pull out the plug of the connecting cable to the therapy unit.
