If there are fibres that have melted more
than is permitted. Such parts of the line
become rigid and give the line a shiny
appearance.
Keep the winch, the line and the switch
clean. Remove dirt and foreign materials
using a clean cloth or towel. If necessary,
unwind the line from the winch (leave at
least five turns of line on the winch drum),
wipe clean and wind up the line correctly
again before putting the winch into
storage. Coating the winch line and the
winch hook with a non-viscous oil can
prevent the formation of rust.
When the winch is used for an extended
period, this places an additional load on
the vehicle battery. Check and maintain
the vehicle battery and the battery cables
in accordance with the manufacturer's
guidelines. Also check that the switch and
all electrical connections are clean and
properly connected.
Check that the remote control (if present)
is not damaged. Check that the remote
control outlet's cover is in place so that no
dirt or foreign objects can penetrate into
the connectors. Keep the remote control
in a protected, clean and dry place.
The winch does not need to be lubricated
throughout its service life. If the winch has
been immersed in water or mud, it has to
be taken apart, cleaned and lubricated.
STORAGE
When the winch is not in use, it has to be
stored with the clutch engaged. In this
position, the winch's internal components
enjoy better resistance to dirt and the effects of
the weather.
