people must not stand.
1.
First check that the line is wound correctly
and evenly around the winch drum.
Incorrect winding can cause damage to
the line.
FIG. 14
2.
If necessary, lay something over the line to
weigh it down. A weight midway between
the winch and the anchor point will
absorb energy in the event the line should
become detached. A branch, heavy jacket,
chain, rucksack or similar can be used to
weigh the line down.
FIG. 15
3.
When the winching vehicle's engine is
running and the line is gently tensioned,
you can start winching slowly and safely.
Check that the line is wound evenly and
firmly around the winch drum. The vehicle
can be steered during winching, but may
not be driven. If the vehicle is driven, the
line will slacken and can become tangled.
FIG. 16
4.
When recovering a vehicle, you must
continue to winch until the vehicle is on a
stable surface. If the vehicle can be driven,
the winching work is complete.
5.
When recovery of the vehicle has been
completed, the vehicle must be secured by
applying its brakes and engaging parking
mode. Release the tension in the line.
6.
Disconnect the line from the anchor point.
Wind up the line. The person handling
the line must walk with the line during
winding, rather than allowing it to run
through their hands, and must maintain
control of the winch at all times.
7.
Disconnect the remote control's cable
and keep the remote control in a clean,
dry location. The winching work is now
complete. Reinstall the cover on the outlet.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN THE
WINCH IS UNDER LOAD
The line must always be wound onto the
drum on the side nearest the mounting plate
according to the information on the warning
sign located on the end of the winch motor.
Check that the line is wound evenly and firmly
around the drum. This prevents the outer
turns of the line being pulled down between
the inner turns and being pinched. This can
damage the line. Carry out winching with the
vehicle in neutral gear and with the parking
brake released. Be patient and allow the winch
to complete the job. This measure presents the
vehicle from rolling backwards and causing a
shock load, which could damage the winch
and the line. When winching sideways, the line
tends to accumulate on one side of the drum.
The accumulation of line can become so large
that the winch can sustain serious damage.
Wind from as straight in front as possible when
winching, and stop winching if the line ends
up close to the tow bars or the mounting plate.
An uneven accumulation of line is rectified by
means of the length of line in question being
unwound and then wound onto the opposite
end of the drum. This frees up space for
continued winching.
WINDING WITHOUT A LOAD
Arrange the line so that it does not become
kinked or tangled when winding. Check that
the line that has already been wound onto
the winch drum is firmly wound in even
layers. Tighten and straighten up the layers if
necessary. Keep the line gently tensioned and
wind the line onto the winch drum in even
layers, one layer at a time. When a layer is
full, stop winding and straighten the line so
that it is firmly wound in even layers. Repeat
this until the winch hook is at least approx.
1.2 metres from the winch. Hold the hook
between your thumb and forefinger and attach
the hook strap. Hold the hook strap between
