your thumb and forefinger so that the line is
kept taut. Walk with the line back to the line
guide and carefully wind up the remaining line
by activating the switch in pulses. Store the
hook by the line guide or in a suitable location
on the side with the line tensioned. If you do
not have a hook strap, you can use a piece of
string or similar. Avoid serious personal injury
by NEVER placing your fingers inside the hook
when you are winding the line.
CHANGE OF WINCHING DIRECTION
All winching should be carried out in a straight
line between the winch and the object being
winched. In this way, the line will not all collect
on one side of the drum, which would affect
the traction and damage the line. Using a
snatch block that is secured at a point directly
in front of the vehicle, you can change the
winching direction and at the same time keep
the line at an angle of 90° so that it is wound
correctly onto the winch drum.
INCREASING TRACTIVE FORCE AND
LINE LENGTH
It may occasionally be necessary to increase
the tractive force. A snatch block provides a
mechanical advantage that improves the
tractive force:
1.
Single line
2.
Double line
3.
Double line
FIG. 17
The more layers of line there are on the drum,
the lower the tractive force. Using a snatch
block, more line can be unwound as a result of
it being doubled. This reduces the number of
layers of line on the drum, thereby increasing
tractive force. Start by unwinding a sufficient
a sufficient amount of line so that the winch
hook can be disconnected. Attach the hook to
the vehicle's chassis and pull the line through
a snatch block. Do not attach the hook to the
assembly devices.
FIG. 18
Release the clutch and pull out enough line
via the snatch block so that you can reach the
anchor point. Secure the line at the anchor
point by placing the protection for the tree
trunk or the choke chain around the object.
Secure the pin/shackle. Insert the shackle
through both ends of the band or the chain.
Do not tighten too firmly (tighten and then
slacken approx. 1 cm).
FIG. 19
USE IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES
In freezing temperatures, it may be more
difficult to free spool the line from the winch
drum. Place the clutch in free spooling mode
and unwind 2–3 metres of line using the winch
motor in order to warm up the winch.
MAINTENANCE
•
Check the line before and after each
winching operation. If the line has
become kinked or worn, it must be
replaced immediately. Also check that the
winch hook and hook pin are not
damaged or worn. Replace if necessary.
•
If the winch is fitted with synthetic line,
you must read and understand the
operating instructions for the synthetic
line. Check the line carefully after each
use. Replace the line in the following
cases:
•
If the thickness of the line has decreased
at any point by 25% or more due to wear.
•
If two or more adjacent strands have
broken. (3) If there are any flat sections or
lumps that do not disappear when the
line is tensioned.
