required for safety reasons. If you attempt
to tension the line on your own, you must
always apply the parking brake, engage
a gear and turn off the vehicle's engine
every time you leave the vehicle to check
the winch line. Never leave the vehicle
when the winch line is under load.
6.
Take care to ensure that each layer of line
is evenly distributed when being wound,
so that the line does not sustain any
damage.
7.
Ask the person helping you to stand to the
side of the vehicle and at a safe distance
from the winch line. Start the vehicle and
put it into neutral. Release the parking
brake while braking gently with the brake
pedal. Activate winding with the winch's
rocker switch. The person helping you
must check that the line is being wound
correctly and moving over the line guide,
and must signal this to you. Stop the
winch when it has wound almost two
metres. Carefully release the brake pedal
and then apply the parking brake. This
actions relieves the load on the winch
line. Engage the parking mode or engage
a gear and turn off the vehicle's engine.
Leave the vehicle and check that the line
has been wound evenly onto the winch
drum and has not sunk down into the
layer below. If the line is sinking down,
unwind the line and repeat this stage
from the beginning with greater pressure
on the brake pedal.
8.
When you are convinced that the line is
being wound correctly onto the winch
drum, repeat stage 6 until the vehicle
is just under a metre from the winch's
anchor point. Release the brake pedal
when the vehicle is just under a metre
from the winch's anchor point, and then
apply the parking brake. This actions
relieves the load on the winch line. Engage
the parking mode or engage a gear and
turn off the vehicle's engine. Leave the
48
vehicle. Disconnect the hook from the
anchor point. Keep the line tensioned
by gripping the supplied hook strap and
carefully wind the line by activating the
remote control's switch in pulses until the
hook has reached the line guide.
IMPORTANT:
Do not pull the hook through the line guide,
as this can damage the line guide.
PREPARATIONS PRIOR TO WINCHING
By using the correct winching technique to
recover a vehicle or pull up a tree stump, the
work is safe both for you and for others.
•
Bear safety in mind and don't get
stressed.
•
Take plenty of time to assess the situation
and plan your winching carefully before
starting work.
•
Take plenty of time when using the winch.
•
Use the correct equipment for the relevant
situation.
•
Wear appropriate safety gloves and do not
allow the line to run through your hands.
•
You are the only person who may handle
the line and the remote control's switch.
RIGGING FOR WINCHING
This section describes the recovery of you own
vehicle by rigging in order to winch with a
single line. The same basic work stages are
used when rigging with double or additional
lines, although in such cases a snatch block is
used.

Release the winch's clutch knob by turning
it so that free spooling can be used. Free
spooling spares the battery.
