• Do not operate the power tool in the immedi-
ate vicinity of flammable materials, as they could
ignite from flying sparks.
• Read the data sheets provided by the material
manufacturers of the workpieces you wish to
sand. The power tool must not be operated if
spontaneously combustible or explosive dusts
are generated, as a spark strike could have fatal
consequences.
• The power tool must not be operated in explo-
sive environments.
• Ensure good ventilation of your workplace at all
times to prevent fainting and acute intoxication or
accidents due to the formation of toxic vapours.
Read the data sheets provided by the material
manufacturers. Wear appropriate PPE.
• The instructions regarding PPE apply for all
persons within the work area in addition to the
machine operator.
• The sanding of extremely hazardous materi-
als (e.g. paints with lead content and asbestos) is
highly toxic and should therefore be avoided or
only carried out by specialists wearing appropri-
ate PPE.
• Ensure that your workplace is clean and well-lit
at all times to prevent accidents.
• When working with electric power tools
outdoors, only use extension cables suitable for
outdoor use.

4.4 Recoil
Recoil is a sudden reaction to a jammed, hooked
or blocked accessory, e.g. the abrasive or driving
disc. The rotation of the accessory is blocked and
comes to a sudden standstill. This causes the elec-
tric power tool to respond with increased speed
against the rotational direction of the accessory at
the location of the blockage. For example, when a
sanding disc hooks or jams on the workpiece, the
edge of the sanding disc, which dips into the work-
piece, may get caught and break out the sanding
disc, tear off or react in a recoil. Depending on the
rotational direction of the sanding disc at the jam-
ming point, it can be ejected toward or away from
the machine operator. The sanding discs may also
break at the jamming point.
A recoil is the result of improper or incorrect use
of the machine, incorrect work practices and/or
unfavourable operating conditions. The following
safety measures minimise the risk of recoil:
• Hold the machine securely with both hands and
place your arms and body in such a way as to have
maximised control over recoil forces and reaction
momentum.
• Keep your hands away from rotating accessory
parts at all times, as they may recoil back across
your hand.
• Stay clear of the area of movement of the
electric power tool in case of a recoil and prevent
other from entering that area, as the power tool
will be accelerated against the rotational direction
of the abrasive at the jamming point when a recoil
occurs.
• Take extra care when working in corners and
along sharp edges, etc. Prevent the electric power
tool from rebounding or jamming in these areas.
The result would be loss of control and recoil.

5.3 Commissioning (see page *1* and *2*)
Caution! The mains plug must be discon-
nected from the mains socket and must not
be plugged into the mains socket for all works
described in the following!
a. Remove the power tool from its packaging.
b.  Attach a suitable OEM abrasive centrically on
the driving disc of the machine. Make sure that the
driving disc is securely attached.
Caution! The extraction openings of the
abrasive must be placed directly over the
openings in the driving disc to minimise dust
production during operation.
c. The electric power tool does not come with its
own extraction unit. Attach a MENZER industrial
extraction system with an extractor hose diameter
of 32 mm to the extractor hose connector. You
can optionally use the MENZER universal adapter
for third-party devices (Accessory – see page *2*)
to attach the power tool to an extractor connector
with a different diameter. Make sure that a dust
bag suitable for fine dust collection is inserted in
the industrial extraction unit.
Use an anti-static extractor hose. Doing so
will reduce the risk of static charge.
d.  Make sure that the operating lever is not acti-
vated before connecting the power tool to mains
electricity via the mains plug.
