Lumbamed
plus
Intended purpose
Lumbamed plus is a brace for stabilising
the lumbar spine using a back pad.
Indications
All indications which require
stabilisation of the lumbar spine by
redistributing pressure using a back pad,
such as:
• Lower back pain (lumbago)
• Postural muscle imbalance in the
lumbar spine
Contraindications
None known at present.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical
irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
®
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Note on wearing
Supports have the greatest effect during
physical exercise. In principal, the
support can be worn all day. The special
cut in the area of the groin (Comfort
Zone) is decisive for the correct and
comfortable fit of the support. However,
this depends on how comfortable the
support is to wear. The support should
be taken off for longer breaks (e.g. sitting
for a long time or a long car drive,
sleeping).
The support is also suitable for use in
water. After use, please rinse out the
product thoroughly.
Putting on / Taking off
• Pull the textile cover over the massage
pad and fix in the middle on the
central, blue Velcro area between the
two stays according to the instructions
of your doctor or a specialist. (Fig. 1 +
2) The pad should be fastened so that
its lower end rests just above the fold
between the buttocks when worn.
• First slip your left hand into the
internal wrist strap of the left side of
the fastener. Guide the bandage round
the body and then slip your right hand
into the external hand strap of the
right side of the fastener (Fig. 3 + 4)
• Pull both sides of the fastener into the
middle so that they overlap as far as
possible and stick to each other by the
Velcro pads as evenly as possible. The
bandage is properly fitted when the
lower edge of the fastener is just above
the groin (Fig. 5)
Please always wear the Lumbamed plus
on the skin and under your clothing. This
