If the tow ball (2) is not stressed, stress it as follows:
The tow ball must be locked up, i.e. the arrow on the key (7) must point towards to the symbol 'lock open'
on the handwheel (5).
Hold the tow ball (2) with your left hand. Pull out the handwheel (5) with your right hand in the direction of
arrow a and then, holding it in this position, turn it in the direction of arrow b right up to the stop. The tow
ball (2) is now stressed.
Caution!
If the tow ball (2) cannot be prestressed as described above, you cannot use the tow ball (2).
Contact your authorized workshop.

Lock up the tow ball (2) by turning the key (7) clockwise. After removing the key (7) it should no longer be
possible to pull the handwheel (5) sideways. Cover the lock with the cover (6).
Caution!
For safety reasons the tow ball (2) must be locked up when it is fitted on the vehicle.
Store the plug (13) in the vehicle.
Caution!
• When inserting the tow ball (2) the handwheel (5) must not be
touched with the hand so that the tow ball (2) snaps perfectly
into place.

• During locking the handwheel (5) turns anticlockwise and
again abuts against the tow ball (2).

Insert the tow ball (2) in prestressed condition into the fixing sleeve

(12) in the direction of the arrow and press it forcefully upwards until
the tow ball (2) clicks into place.
Caution!
The tow ball (2) is seated correctly if:

• the green marking (11) on the handwheel (5) points at the
white marking (10) on the tow ball (2),
• the tow ball (2) is locked and the key (7) can be pulled out, and

• the gap between handwheel (5) and tow ball (2) is no longer
present.
