Caution!
Before using the tow ball make sure to check the fixing sleeve (12) for fouling. To ensure reliable
locking of the tow ball, any dirt in the fixing sleeve (12) must be removed immediately
(see 2.7 'Care and service instructions').

Preparing the fitting of the tow ball

The fixing sleeve (12) is provided with a plug (13) as a protection
against fouling.
Pull out the plug (13) from the fixing sleeve (12).

Take the tow ball out of its pocket in the vehicle.

The shank (14), the release ball (4), the lock balls (3) and the hand-
wheel (5) must not be soiled or damaged (in case of soiling see 2.7
4
'Care and service instructions').

The tow ball (2) must be prestressed, i.e.
• the red marking (9) on the handwheel (5) points towards the white

marking (10) on the tow ball (2);

• the handwheel stands clearly visible away from the tow ball (2), so

that a gap (15) of at least 4mm is present between the hand-
wheel (5) and the tow ball (2);

• the lock balls (3) can over their full diameter be pressed into the
shank (14) of the coupling ball;

• the key (7) sits in the lock, the arrow on the key (7) points towards
the symbol 'lock open' and the key (7) cannot be pulled out.
