BATTERY INSTALLATION/REMOVAL
WARNING!
Do not tilt the lead batteries (WET) to prevent the highly corrosive acid from leaking out of the batteries.
Do not connect, not even accidentally, the battery positive and negative terminals by using tools, keys, etc. This
could cause dangerous short-circuits.
Battery installation
For approved battery types, see the Technical Data paragraph.
The batteries must be installed as shown in the diagram (46).
WARNING!
WET batteries are inside an appropriate container to prevent the acid form leaking.
Do not install WET batteries without an appropriate container.
1.
Drive the machine on a level ground and engage the parking brake.
2.
Check that the ignition key (57) has been removed.
3.
Open the battery compartment hood (1) by using the unlocking push-button (25).
4.
With the help of an assistant and an appropriate hoisting system, install the batteries (3 and 22) and connect them as shown in
the diagram (46).
5.
Connect the battery connector (40) and close the hood (1).
6.
If necessary, charge the batteries (see the procedure in the following paragraph).
Battery removal
7.
Drive the machine on a level ground and engage the parking brake.
8.
Check that the ignition key (57) has been removed.
9.
Disconnect the battery connector (40) with the control (21).
10.
Open the battery compartment hood (1) by using the unlocking push-button (25).
11.
Disconnect the battery wiring harness (3 and 22).
12.
Check that WET battery caps (47) are closed, to prevent the highly corrosive acid from leaking out of the batteries.
13.
With the help of an assistant and an appropriate hoisting system, remove the batteries (3 and 22).
