5. Periodic maintenance and cleaning
The machine must only be operated in a fault-free condition! You must shut down the machine immediately if
you discover any damage or malfunction!
CAUTION!
Risk of physical injury to people and animals and material damage!
• Only perform maintenance and cleaning work when the machine is switched off. Disconnect the mains plug!!
• Maintenance and cleaning work must only be carried out by trained personnel.
• Illegible or damaged stickers (e.g. type plate) must be replaced immediately with new ones.
• Work on the electrical system must only be carried out with voltage-insulated tools.
5.1. Cleaning
Ensure that the ventilation openings on the engine are free of dirt and excess dust. The HAPPYCOW Cow
Cleaning Machine must only be cleaned with dry materials.
5.2 Changing the cleaning brushes
• The brushes on the HAPPYCOW Cow Cleaning Machine are wear parts and must be replaced when they wear out,
as they are made from plastic and undergo a natural ageing process.
• Depending on the level of use, UV radiation and effects of weather, the bristles can work loose or fray after around
1-2 years.
• To ensure the best possible cleaning effect for the cattle, the brushes should be replaced in good time.
• Unscrew the securing washer from the end of the shaft. Pull out the old brush discs and place the new brush discs
on the shaft from the outside inwards. Ensure that the new brushes match the shape of the old ones. A rubber
washer must be placed between the individual brush discs.
• The two clamping sleeves (see spare parts list Fig. 12-2, Items 17 and 18) should be replaced after every 5,000 hours
of operation or annually.
• Notes on determining the number of operating hours:
according to scientific knowledge, the running time of the machine for each cow is around 30-40 hours / year.
Multiplying this figure by the number of cows yields the number of operating hours per year.
5.3 Lubrication
A lubricating nipple is located on either side of the housing for lubrication of the bearing. Both sides must be lubricated
on a monthly basis.
5.4 Worm-geared drive motor
• The worm-geared drive motor's gear oil must be changed after every 10,000 hours of operation. The type of oil to be
used is listed in the technical data.
• The shaft seal on the electric motor should also be replaced at the same time as a preventative measure.
• Clear any dirt and soiling from the housing and fan wheel cover every two months.
• Never use a high-pressure cleaner!
• To make cleaning and servicing the worm-geared drive motor easier, the housing can be swivelled off the base plate.
• No additional maintenance of the worm-geared drive motor is required.
