17 During Operation

16.2 Testing the Controls

Before starting work, confirm that the trigger switch
lockout (3) and the trigger switch (4) are undamaged and
functioning properly.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, keep hands,
feet and other parts of the body away from the chain. Do not
touch the saw chain while the battery is inserted. Never
touch a moving chain with your hand or any part of your
body, @ 6.5.2. Keep bystanders out of the area while
testing the controls.
To test the controls:
► Remove the battery.
► Attempt to depress the trigger switch.
If the trigger switch can be depressed without first
depressing the trigger switch lockout, take the garden
pruner to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
repaired before use.
► Insert the battery and hold the garden pruner firmly with
both hands, one hand firmly on the control handle (1) and
the other hand firmly on the gripping surface (2). Switch
on the garden pruner by depressing the trigger switch
lockout and trigger switch.
If the chain does not start rotating, remove the battery.
Take the garden pruner to an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer to be repaired before use.

► Insert the battery and hold the garden pruner firmly with
both hands, one hand firmly on the control handle (1) and
the other hand firmly on the gripping surface (2). Switch
on the garden pruner by depressing the trigger switch
lockout and trigger switch. Then release the trigger switch.
If the saw chain does not stop rotating after you release
the trigger switch, remove the battery. Take the garden
pruner to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be
repaired before use.
17 During Operation

17.1 Cutting

WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries to the operator
or bystanders, keep hands, feet and other parts of the body
away from the saw chain, @ 6.5.2. Do not touch the saw
chain while the battery is inserted into the garden pruner.
Never touch the rotating saw chain with your hand or any
part of your body, @ 6.5.4.
WARNING
Never hold the material to be cut or attempt to remove cut
material without first releasing the trigger switch and
removing the battery. Release the trigger switch and remove
the battery before clearing jammed material, @ 6.5.4.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury, never work with the
garden pruner in the rain or in wet or damp conditions,
@ 6.4. Always wear proper clothing and protective apparel,
including proper eye protection, @ 6.3. Work carefully and
maintain proper control of the garden pruner, @ 6.5.2.
The garden pruner is designed for two-handed operation.
